Online Home of the Westchester/Rockland Wood Bat League

Welcome to the online home of the Westchester Rockland Wood Bat League (WRWBL).  The WRWBL is an 18 and over all-wood bat baseball league serving the Metropolitan Area with teams from Westchester, Rockland, the Bronx, Manhattan and Fairfield County Connecticut.  The WRWBL's mission is to provide a safe, centrally organized and highly competitive environment for current collegiate baseball players, as well as recent graduates and former professional ballplayers. A fully accredited 501.c.7 tax-exempt organization offers managers and players the confidence of financial transparency and sound management.

The WRWBL celebrated its 10th anniversary during the 2005 season. The WRWBL was the first area amatuer organization to adopt an all-wood bat format in 2000. In the seven years since, the league has grown to 14 teams from across the Tri-State area with more than 350 players competing each season. Approximately 95 percent of its players are currently active or competed in an NCAA Division I, II or III program. In addition, a growing population of former minor league players including those who competed on
Major League Baseball affiliated farm teams, as well as various independent league teams are now finding long-term homes on our rosters. Currently, the WRWBL is ranked as one of the top-10 leagues in the country by the National Semi-Pro Baseball Association

If your a prospective player looking to join the WRWBL, we encourage you to click on the New Player Inquiry link located on the left hand side of our tool bar. Make sure to fill out all the required fields and someone will contact about our upcoming tryout date. Our site is regularly updated so feel free to surf our team pages, news pages and stats for more information about a team near you.

NY IRON HORSE RETURNS TO ARIZONA (click here for full story)

The NY Iron Horse made its long awaited return to the Arizona World Series tournament on September 25th - 28th, 2008 and went 1-4 on the trip.  The team played better than what the record shows.  The top story from the trip was the victory over the #4 ranked team in the country and the team that would eventually go ahead to win the tournament. The Iron Horse definately had the potential to do well in the tournament offensively and defensively but lacked the starting pitching necessary to continue on into the playoffs.  Click the title of this article to read about the team's tournament.

The team’s tournament offensive MVP for the Iron Horse was DJ Price who went 9-19 during the tournament.  The pitching MVP was Matt Meyers pitched a complete game in game 2 to lead the team to their only victory against the tournament champions.  The defensive MVPs went to Mike Shea and Joe Mandile who turned 6 double plays during the tournament and both made some great plays at positions that they did not play during the 2008 regular season.

The team is looking to return to Arizona for next year's tournament.  If you are interested in playing or coaching for the team please contact Matt Meyers @ meyemr20@hotmail.com

2008 ENDS WITH THE CAVS ON TOP AND CHANGE IN THE WIND FOR 2009!!

2008 CHAMPS!!

Congrats to the Rockland Cavs for winning the 2008 WRWBL Championship!!  In what could be classified as 'A long time coming'.  John Moolick and the Boys were able to deny cross-town rivals, The New City Outlaws the chance to 2 peat.  In the end the Cavaliers posted a 21-8 regular season record and closed out a great 2008 season in the WRWBL with their name etched on the Trophy with past years Champ!!

With every end comes a new beginning. Some of those new beginnings have already taken place while the rumor mills and hot stoves run wild with exciting possibilities and developments. The WRWBL will also be sending it's All- Star team the NY Iron Horse off to Arizona come October in hopes of bagging the NABA Championship.

The Yonkers Indians and Bronx Astros have decided to merge teams to create the Eastchester Blue Jays! All eyes will be on this potential championship contender as they get ready to take the field and the WRWBL by storm come 2009!

A familiar face also is rumored to make his return to the league in a very familiar role...more on that teaser later.

There is also talk of the Monarchs, Cubs and Patriots making some serious moves over the long off-season. Please make sure to check back here often for any and all league developments as they become available!!
