Home of the Westport Cardinals: Welcome

Tuesday, August 12

Hello Cards,

It was one interesting season.  Not a lot of Ws but I think we had some fun.  We have a lot of guys and indecently a lot of whom do not play all the time.  We for the most part play roles and most of the time we play those roles well and or to the best of our ability.   There are 18 of us who show up every Sunday with no guarantee of playing time on losing team.  The promise of innings or no innings we usually have an extra team on the bench ready to hop in at a moment’s notice.  That is a pretty good testament to all of us a individuals.  We enjoy the game, ***, we love the game, we enjoy the team and we and for the most part are a team.  A real team.  You look around the league we stand out as a group unto ourselves where we are all excited to play win or lose.  I know from talking to some of managers that they would trade this team with 4 wins for theirs with 10 or more.  We are a strange collection of soles but I think that is ironically normal in the world of baseball.  There isn’t a better group of people in the league or a group I would rather play with.  I have enjoyed playing with you all this season and am grateful for the patience you have shown as team mates, friends and ball players.  I look forward to playing with all of you again next season.

This week will be taking BP Wednesday at Doubleday 5:30 PM

This Sunday we have been invited by the Red Sox to play in a pick-up game vs the Mets at Wilton 9:00AM.  First come first serve basis.

Makeup game:  We have two games remaining on the docket.  The Marlins and the Indians.  The Indians we cannot make up with until after the weekend of the 17th.  The Marlins would like to play ASAP.  I have asked for the Wilton field for a weekday or Friday night game and am waiting to hear back.

I will be back you ASAP with any scheduling up-dates.  Also tell me if you would be interested in pick-up ball this Sunday.

Thanks Cards, talk to you all later.

Best,

Bill
