Regional 3rd Place Finish 12U Cal Ripken (46/60) Team - District Champions 12U Cal Ripken (50/70) Team - District Champions Wednesday, March 12 WR Facility Plans West Raleigh Baseball aims to provide the very best baseball experience in our area. An important part of that experience is the quality of the playing and practice facilities. For several years we have seen the facilities "aging", and at the same time we have felt pressure to improve the caliber of the facilities to match the caliber of the baseball at West Raleigh. In 2004 WRBA surveyed families about improvements they would like to see in the West Raleigh facilities. During 2005, WRBA engaged engineering firm Withers & Ravenel to survey the property and help determine how to incorporate survey feedback into plans that will make this the finest youth baseball facility in the area. In 2006 WRBA made significant drainage and safety improvements on the fields. In 2007/2008 WRBA contracted to light Nowell field, which allowed us to expand our Softball program - and to upgrade the lighting on the other fields. The lights became operational for the Spring 2008 season. WRBA has set a goal to raise two million dollars to upgrade the current facility, arrange for suitable 90-foot playing fields for our older players, and establish an endowment fund, the interest from which will help cover the upkeep and operating costs of our upgraded facility and offsite location(s).
