2009 Slugfest Dates Set & Registration is Open

The 2009 Forsyth County Slugfest USSSA NIT is set for March 6-8, 2009 and registrations are being accepted. As the largest preseason tournament in the country, The Slugfest continues to grow and sell out every year. As we enter our sixth year we expect over 200 teams and will certainly sell out most if not all age group prior to the deadline as we have each of the last four years. We are proud to continue our support of Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta and the Cumming-Forsyth County Miracle League. In the last two years alone, over $40,000 has been raised for these two great organizations through your participation.

Your teams have been selected and you are dreaming of that State Championship next summer. It all starts here! Register early to secure your spot. Unfortunately, we have dozens of teams have been placed on waiting list every year due to early sell outs.

Despite 3" of Rain, 30 Degree High Temps & 20+MPH Winds, Slugfest Teams Step Up To The Plate
Slugfest at Turner Field
Slugfest Teams Hit a Homer for Area Kids

With almost three inches of rain in two days, mid 30's for high temps and 20+ MPH winds, the Slugfest tournament staff and the FCPR had no choice but to cancel the 2008 event. However, what happened next was the biggest suprise of the weekend. Within minutes of the final cancellation notice, the Slugfest teams were ready to step up to the plate in support of the kids that we were all to be playing for, the Miracle League and Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta. Team after team began to contact the tournament with offers to donate all or part of their tournament refund to the kids that would love the opportunity to play baseball like our elite athletes. "All that is good about baseball" began to pour in. Over $18,000 was raised for these two great charities. The donations were presented during the Spring Classic ,GA-GA Tech game at Turner Field in May.

EVERY CHILD DESREVES A CHANCE TO PLAY BASEBALL
cfcml2
If I told you about a youth baseball league, you would say that is ordinary. If I told you the kids were physically and mentally handicaped, you might say that it was touching. If you saw them play, you would say it is a MIRACLE!

This year we are proud to announce a new tournament benefactor, the Forsyth County Miracle League. Your participation will help fund a new multi purpose, state of the art Miracle League "Field of Dreams" and facility scheduled to break ground during the summer of 2007. We play and compete so that these guys can just get to play. Click on the Miracle League link in the "Links" section to view a Bryant Gumbel HBO special on the Miracle League. You can also click on the Miracle League logo at the top of the page for a slide show of last year's season or click on one of the Miracle League photos to see more Miracle Leaguers in action.
