With almost three inches of rain in two days, mid 30's for high temps and 20+ MPH winds, the Slugfest tournament staff and the FCPR had no choice but to cancel the 2008 event. However, what happened next was the biggest suprise of the weekend. Within minutes of the final cancellation notice, the Slugfest teams were ready to step up to the plate in support of the kids that we were all to be playing for, the Miracle League and Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta. Team after team began to contact the tournament with offers to donate all or part of their tournament refund to the kids that would love the opportunity to play baseball like our elite athletes. "All that is good about baseball" began to pour in. These donations will be presented during the Spring Classic ,GA-GA Tech game at Turner Field in May.
