What to expect the first season, the first year ...
“Every player is expected to attend all practices, games, and tournaments.” Attendance is vital to successful player and team development.
Fall Season Preparations:
•The summer before the fall season, we plan to organize pickup soccer (with Edgar Team) for players who are interested in participating and working to gain experience playing with their new teammates.
•11 August the team will officially start up 3 training sessions per week through the end of August
•Possible scrimmage Labor Day weekend to prepare for the fall season.
WAGS League Play:
•8-9 Games on Sundays
•U9-U11 divisions formed geographically, no standings (U9 no scores posted)
Tournaments/Scrimmages:
•The first season the team will not do any of the pre-season tournaments,
•Participate in multiple scrimmages to prepare for the WAGS season.
Off Season:
•Interested players will have the opportunity to play indoor soccer in the winter.
•Individuals focus on individual soccer training
Acquire FCPS gym 1 day a week for group training with Coach Frank
•Play another sport.
•Just take a break. Taking a break from a particular sport can be very healthy. It really depends on the individual child.
Spring Season:
•WAGS League Play
•Team will do 1 local tournaments.
•To abide by VYS rules, tryouts will be held in the spring to supplement any open spots on the team.

Fundraising
•Corporate Sponsorship
•Giant SCRIP(5% credit)/ Great American SCRIP( %credit varies by vendor)
•Vendor Night - Find a place (home, community center, etc...) where we have Moms/Dads from the team or their friends or acquaintances sell goods, with proceeds going to our team (Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, Southern Living at Home, etc...). I already have some folks lined up who sell "at-home" goods who may possibly be able to do this. We could also throw in a raffle.
•Yard Sale - We just need to find a location (church parking lot, pool parking lot...).
•Bake Sale or Dinner - We could do a bake sale at a shopping center, or host a dinner (spaghetti, salad, bread) at a church or other easy-to-access location.
•Selling Meal Tickets - This is actually a pretty good soccer fundraising idea and not too hard on parents and coaches. The problem is that this idea is sometimes too popular. If you’re not careful you can end up selling meals for the same day as some other organization or the area can get burned out on it.
•Interested families sell a certain number of tickets. The tickets are for a lunch or supper. The person buying the ticket is responsible for picking it up. For big orders from a business you should offer to deliver. You can have volunteer cooks or you can have all or parts of it catered. Many times you can get food donations from local businesses or you can ask parents to donate desserts. It can be tricky to get parent volunteers scheduled to work for lunch and supper time.
•Hold a Kick-A-Thon - To make this soccer fundraising event more profitable, consider adding more fun events to the activities at the soccer fields and have parents donate food to sell at the soccer fields for that day.
•Additional ideas!!!
