Valley Cheetahs win final game of season and are Division Champions

For the third year in a row the Valley Cheetahs win their division. This year they are the Champions in the U16 Division of the Lehigh Valley Youth Soccer League.  On Sunday November 18th in the snow on their home field the Cheetahs played their final league game of the season which would determine the division winner.  The Cheetahs were tied with the Pennridge Stingers for first place.  They had beaten the Stingers on their home fields 3-1 back in October.  But both teams were fighting for the championship and neither team wanted to lose.  It was an exciting game with the score being tied 1-1 at halftime.  About 20 minutes into the second half the cheetahs scored a second goal and were able to keep the Sting from scoring again.  They won 2-1 with goals scored by Brandi Lees and Cassie Walter.  The Cheetahs record for the season was 8 wins 1 loss and 1 tie.  They had a total of 31 goals scored and only 4 goals were scored against them.  The Cheetahs goalkeeper, Chelsea Nichol did an outstanding job.  The Valley Cheetahs will now be moving on to their indoor season with their 1st tournament at the Perkiomen School in December.  The Cheetahs are sponsored by Gillespie Electric.

Valley Soccer had 12 travel teams competing this fall from the ages of U9 to an Over 20 women’s team.  4 of these teams won their division this fall season.  Great job to all the Valley Soccer Club teams.  For more information on Valley soccer’s upcoming events and programs check out their website at www.valleysc.org.
