At Tyler Mountain Karate we teach a combination of Shotokan Karate,
Kyokushin Karate, and  Kickboxing. We do not limit ourselves
with just one style because in the real world there is no one technique or
one style that conquers all. Building on this philosophy, we keep reality
in mind while showing you techniques that actually work in a real
self-defense scenario. You will also learn and enjoy all of the things that make
martial arts fun.

This is a family oriented environment with clear cut goals. We
definitely want what is best for each and everyone of you!

                     History

Kickboxing is an American sport where athletes compete against each other wearing gloves and footpads. The object is to defeat your opponent by using a variety of punches and kicks. The term kickboxing has also taken on a generic definition of all arts that have kicking and punching as there base. These arts include: Muay Thai (also referred to as Thai Boxing), and Savate (also referred to as Boxe Francais). Muay Thai is the oldest known form of kickboxing and is the primary building block of all other forms of kickboxing.

The art of Karate is a system of combat developed on the island of Okinawa. Karate may allow you to defeat an opponent by the use of striking and kicking. The students practice hard physical training to develop fighting skills. This training requires strenuous physical and mental discipline. Karate helps with the development of a strong character and builds a feeling of respect toward our fellow man. The study of Karate, therefore, may be valuable to all people, male and female, young and old alike.
