Summer Camp Info: Summer Camp Medical forms are due to Mr. Lewis no later than July 1, 2008. Call Mr. Lewis when you have them ready. Medical forms can be downloaded from the medical forms selector on the left. Some substantial changes have recently occurred to the Ockanickon Schedule, some like the loss of Metalworking due to supplier issues may represent a scheduling difficulty to your unit while others like the Master Schedule shift may be inconvenient at first but should improve your camp experience. Please read. Program Notes Master Schedule Shift: The Master Schedule has been updated and besides a number of minor changes like an additional session of camping and communications morning activities have been shifted. In an effort to improve meal service, a 30 minute gap has been placed between meals to allow the Dining Hall to properly prepare Meal B's food for service. This has caused morning program to start 15 minutes later with the first morning session starting at 9:15 AM with the next session being 10:10 AM and finally 11:05 AM. We recognize the inconvenience caused by this and copious quantities of the Master Schedule will be available in the main office for troops needing help with this adjustment. Please consult the Master Schedule or Department Schedule for specifics for each CPR: AHA accredited CPR Training will be available for leaders on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:00PM in Totem Lodge. Participants must register in the main office to participate and space is limited to the first 12 to register for each session. Cooking Merit Badge: The Scoutcraft director has asked that units have an approximate count of Scouts taking Cooking merit badge and any dietary restrictions for participants for the Sunday leader meeting so appropriate food will be available for the Monday session. Law Merit Badge: Law merit badge times will be Tuesday and Thursday in Palmer A from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Participants are encouraged to complete requirements 2, 4, 5 and 9 ahead of time but these requirements can be completed in camp if the participants pay close attention. Composite Materials: The projects and activities for Composite Materials have been selected and all materials and equipment for projects for Composite Materials will cost $10.00 per Scout. Metalworking: Due to a problem with a distributor Metalworking is currently suspended and will not be offered until further notice. Minor Editing: For instance you may have noted that the Leader Archery competition required sunscreen and was only available to those 12 and up who completed a swim test. Radio Merit Badge: Week 1, Radio merit badge will be offered Monday, Tuesday and Thursday starting at 7:30 PM and will start in the Totem Breezeway. There are no pre-requisites. Scouts must attend all session to complete the badge. Registration Week 8 Promotion: Units and Scouts who've been to camp already in 2008 may register to return week 8 for the vastly reduced rate of $200. Leader slots will also be $102. Unit Rosters: Several units have submitted unit rosters without using the OSR Roster form and have had to submit revisions until all the correct information was included. Unit who've yet to complete a roster are encouraged to use Unit Roster form which now includes no macros or other Excel specific functionality. Horseback Riding: Few units have taken up the option of reserving spots in Horseback Riding. Units which reserve slots are financially responsible for the slot on arrival at camp and must have transportation for their Scouts. Reservations skip the randomness of the lottery and are available to the first 8 Scouts in each week to do so. Reservations can be made to questions@ockanickon.org. Please include the Scout's name, troop, week and council. Work Projects: Ockanickon is constantly looking for skilled leaders that can help make substantial improvements during their unit's stay. Units that would like to arrange a project based on skilled work are welcome to contact camp ahead of time at questions@ockanickon.org or 215-297-5290 x12.

Tip of the summer: Spray your clothing with Permethrin (available at REI and other stores). This repels and kills ticks and mosquitoes. Follow the directions on the container for application and use.
