Padres Coaching Clinic featuring Big Al
Sunday January 25th 2009: (Session 1: 8:00am - 12:30) (Session 2: 12:00 - 5:00pm)
Location:
Petco Park
Handout: 2009 Padres Coaches Clinic Flyer
Big Al The San Diego Padres are proud to host the 2009 Coaching Clinic featuring Al Price (Big Al) from Al & Al for all youth baseball and softball programs in San Diego. The coaching clinic for Little League is scheduled for Sunday January 25th, 2009 and the other youth programs clinics are scheduled for Monday/Tuesday (Jan 26th and 27th). There is no charge for any of these clinics.

Al Price - is known in Little League Baseball as Big Al was part of the "Al and Al" team that were the originators of the "Know Your Baseball" training program, which is the Little League Official Education Program for Managers and Coaches. Al's teaching philosophy comes from decades of experience he has culminated over the years into this comprehensive, easy-to-follow approach to learning the fundamentals of baseball, softball and tee ball. Each component of the program ties together principles of learning that have proven effective time and time again. Al have distilled his knowledge in a way that makes it easy for kids, parents and coaches to learn. Here's how he does it, in a nutshell: All the fundamental skills are clearly identified. Each skill is broken down into a series of simple, straight forward steps presented in a learnable progression. Skills are presented in a creative and motivating manner that is easy for anyone from the novice to the more experienced to follow. Above all, he never forgets that the game is supposed to be active - and fun.

Al's step-by-step approach has helped both new and experienced coaches build Little League teams with a solid foundation of basic skills. Take advantage of this great, well-planned program: do it for the kids!

We are asking for all members of our local boards that have not attended a coaches clinic to please attend this one. D33 requires that all managers and coaches attend both a coaches and a safety clinic every 3 years. Every team must have a coach that has attended a coaches and a safety clinic in 2009 in order to participate in our TOC. This clinic fulfills the D33 coaches clinic requirement. We have also scheduled a safety clinic between the two coaches clinics that begins at 12:30pm. So by either coming early for the second one or staying late for the first one, the coaches and managers will be able to fulfill both their requirements for coaches and safety clinics in one day. Parents are encouraged to attend any of these clinics to learn the proper training techniques that are used in teaching kids how to play baseball and softball.

Big Al will be conducting 2 sessions on Sunday. The first session will be for baseball and softball coaches working with players age 9 thru 12. The second session will be for coaches and parents working with players 5 thru 8 years old. All participants should wear sneakers and bring a glove (if possible). This is a hands on clinic, but not physically hard. All adults are welcome whether they have a glove or not!

Big Al will conduct a session on Monday (Jan 26th) for youth baseball and softball coaches working with players age 9 thru 12. On Tuesday (Jan 27th), Al will conduct a session for youth baseball and softball coaches and parents working with players 5 thru 8 years olds. The material should be the same, so if you missed the clinic on Sunday, be sure to attend the one for your age group on Monday or Tuesday.

Free parking is available in D1/D2 lots (SE corner of Imperial and Park Blvd.) For clinic details and optional pre-registration, visit www.padres.com/community. If you have any questions please contact Clay at llcad33@yahoo.com
