Thresher's Cheer Competition
Way to go Girls!!!  Our Thresher Cheerleaders represented our team great this
weekend at competition.  For being one of the smallest squad they went out there
and rocked the house.  Even though we did not place,  they went out there and
did their BEST!!  Girls, we are all very proud of you and you are all winners in
our eyes!!!  I am proud to be your coach!!

I want to send out a huge thank you to the families and boys that were able to
make it out to Gilbert to cheer on the girls.  A special thank you to B. Wright,
Kinion, Garcia, Hauser, McArthur, Coda, Hospodka, and Maccagnano for coming
out!!  Your presents really helped the girls and your support afterwards was
greatly appreciated!!

Thanks again,
Coach Maria

Threshers V Wolverines
Threshers 2-4 THE sharks Roll against wolverines!dv threshers – 36    sw wolverines - 14 After getting a whiff of the cool breeze blowing off of the Ocean we knew we were at the right school and the Threshers were ready to play some football.  The Threshers started the game with a great run back by #25 Santana Gomez and the extra point from #11 QB Izzy Vega to #16 Ameyer Armstrong was good.Threshers 7 Wolverines 0 Offensively we clicked from the very beginning and never looked back.  We ran several formations.  We both ran and threw the ball effectively all day long against the Wolverines.  The key element to this game was an overall good team effort.  We have had back to back weekends now where the effort of the team was very good.  There were a number of high points to the game, one of which was an outreaching diving catch by Santana on the 2 yard line which lead to a Thresher TD the next play.  Armstrong finally got an extra point thru the uprights as well.  #23 B. Wright had a number of great plays on defense and the Z-counter actually went for some great yards.  One more move B. and we’ll have ourselves a TD out of that play.  All though the wind was around 20-25 mph all day long it did not seem to affect the Arial attack of the Sharks.  Izzy is starting to really get a feel for the passing game and does an outstanding job of keeping his mistakes to a minimum.  He has a great arm and is one of the better quarterbacks in the division.  The starting offensive line made up of #30 Nerger, #67 Garcia, #48 Kinion, #44 Coda, #14 Brattalien were really coming off the ball well today and they blocked their back sides off.  Defensively the standout on the day was big D-End #44 Eric Coda.  He was on the attack all day and anything they tried to bring his way was usually stopped in the backfield.  Also on the prowl was #81 Linhart who came up with a pick and made a number of stops himself.  We want to thank Coach Lance and the Wolverines and wish them luck the rest of the way.  Good effort gentleman and let’s keep this going and finish out the year strong.  Remember it is up to you and the effort you put forth.  This game is one of inches and the minute you let up is the same time the other team will step up and take advantage.  Never let that happen by making an effort every play, don’t just go thru the motions and let yourselves and your team mates down!  Next up for the Threshers is the NC Giants, @ home 2pm kickoff.    Don’t forget our motto when you come to practice…“NO ONE OUT WORKS US!” The Threshers Cheer squad was a little short handed this weekend but did another great job. Paige, Katie,Shantelle, and Amber were on their own this weekend and while we were missing a couple of the girls (Brittany and Tami) we still sounded great!  As always you guys out cheered the other team and it is great having you on our sidelines.  Hopefully we will be back in full force this weekend at home and you will be louder and prouder than ever!!! Thanks for your efforts girls, we appreciate them!   COACH

Threshers V Sonics

Threshers 1-4 THE THRESHERS DROP A CLOSE ONE TO THE SONICS!dv threshers – 18  north sonics - 22 The Threshers began the game without starting linebacker B. Wright as he was sick.  The Sonics lost their starting middle linebacker just before the game as he was just over the weight limit. So both teams were a little short handed missing a couple good players.  This was anybodies game and the Threshers definitely came to play.  While the final score was North Sonics 22 Threshers 18, the bottom line is we played with great energy and did not stop getting after it until the final whistle blew.  To quote a famous Coach…”We didn’t lose the game, we just ran out of time.”  We are one of the best 1-4 teams I have ever coached and if we had played the previous 3 games like we did this one the results may have been different.  While we may have been on the wrong side of the score I believe we would have been much more competitive.  We played hard all game long and like I told you all, we coaches will never be mad at you if the effort is there and the effort was definitely there.  We can all be disappointed in the loss but none of you should hang your heads as it was a good game.  We need to get back after it in practice this Tuesday and Thursday and prepare for a good Wolverines team.  Let’s finish out the season strong and with the same intensity that we played this one.  I am very proud of you guys and I look forward to us staying focused and playing the rest of our games at this level. Don’t forget our motto when you come to practice…“NO ONE OUT WORKS US!”  Again, another awesome job by the Threshers Cheer squad!!! You girls all seem to be getting better every game and the cheer expo should be awesome!Coach Maria has the girls lookin and sounding like a real cheer squad! Thanks for all your hard work! 1,2,3,….EFFORT, EFFORT, EFFORT!!!!COACH

Threshers V Sun Devils

Threshers 1-2

Sun Devils from the faR WEST beat the sharks. The Threshers could not seem to find anything that would work against the stingy defense of the FW Sun Devils.  We need to find the hunger & intensity that we came out with against the Musketeers the first game of the year.  The last 2 games we have come out lethargic and when given the chance to make a play it just doesn’t seem like we have the desire.  We need to get back to having some fun early on in the game.  We ended the game on a high note scoring on the Devils our last two possessions.  If you were there and saw the kid’s reaction you would have thought we won the championship.  Guys that feeling needs to happen early in the game and then continue thru each and every effort, thru out the game.  This is a game which is physical that is why we train as hard as we do, but more importantly it is a very mental game.  Right now we are very close physically with the teams we are playing but mentally we are strides behind them.  We need to approach every practice, every game, and every down with a very short memory.  If you allow your mistakes to become the thing that sticks in your mind you will not become the football player you want to be.  Our intensity must be up this week at practice and I assure you that we will start out on a much faster pace and our minds will be focused on the task at hand.  The team we are going to play is a good team; in fact they are a very good team.  But they put on their pants just like you do one leg at a time.  Don’t be over critical on your shortcomings but do not get ahead of yourself when you make a good play.  Stay focused and be ready to go on to the next play and make the effort like it will be your last one.  Go home after every practice and be proud of who you see in the mirror and know that you are giving it your all each and every drill, down, and play.  NO PART TIMER’S!Next up for the Threshers the Grand Stealth who is currently the #1 team in the state and from the start they have been the team to beat.  Let’s go have some fun.   THRESHERS CHEER SQUAD, Thanks for all your hard work! You girls are all sounding great, we are happy to have you as part of the team!!! 1,2,3,….FAMILY!!!!COACH

Threshers V. Warhogs

Threshers 1-1 after LOSS TO THE FAR WEST WARHOGS 13-0! The Threshers started out the game being down real quick to the Warhogs 14-0, and it never seemed like the sharks ever got on track. We came out complacent and until the last 6 or 7 minutes of the game the effort just wasn’t there. We moved the ball fairly well at times but every time it looked as though the Threshers were on track we just never capitalized. The Warhogs ran the same exact play for both scores and kicked an extra point after their first score to make it 8-0 to start out. The second attempt at a PAT was blocked. It is disappointing when we play like this and it is just our mind set that needs to be adjusted. We are a good football team and we just need to believe in ourselves. The Warhogs played ball control football as the Sharks never saw the field in the entire 3rd quarter, and it wasn’t until 7 minutes left in the game that we finally got the ball back. This week we play the undefeated Sun Devils also from the Far West Association and they too are a very good team. The Junior Midget level is stacked this year and every team we play is going to give us a real test. We are in the heart of our schedule and it just doesn’t get any easier. We have to make up our minds and bring it this week and play ever down like it’s our last one, because gentlemen, if we don’t it will show right away against a good team like the Devils. Show yourself an effort every play and you will never have to hang your head, win, lose, or draw. As my pops used to say, Showing up is half the battle, so this week lets all show up to both practices and the game! And I mean show up!! Again, another awesome job by the Threshers Cheer squad!!! Thanks for cheering us on! Coach Maria has the girls lookin and sounding like a real cheer squad! Thanks for all your hard work! 1,2,3,….EFFORT, EFFORT, EFFORT!!!!COACH

Threshers V. Musketeers

YOU’RE deer valley Threshers move to 1-0 after win against the dv musketeers 19-7! The Threshers begin the season on a high note by defeating their sister team the Musketeers. We all realize we have a lot of work to day especially against a good passing team. While the Musketeers threw the ball and were good they are not nearly as good as our upcoming opponents. The running game was good for the Threshers. #25 Santana Gomez stole the show and with 3 touchdowns. The scoring was topped off with an extra point from QB #11 “Izzy” to #81 Linhart. The story on defense was big #16 Ameyer Armstrong. He was a force to reckon with and really seemed as though he was on or by every tackle on the field. The offensive players of the game were of course #25 Gomez and on the O-line #67 Thomas Garcia. He was after it from the first play on and really lead by example. #16 Armstrong was the defensive player of the week. The final score was your Threshers 19 – Musketeers 7. Next up is the Warhogs from the Far West Association. They bring in a good football team and we will have to bring our A game the next 4 weeks if we expect to be in it this year. in for the score extra point no good. Threshers 13- Hombres 0. Awesome job today by the Threshers Cheer squad!!! Thanks for hollering your lungs out for us girls! We definitely appreciate it!! ….FAMILY!COACH
