REGISTRATION: Registration for the 2008-09 Season is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, October 22nd, and Friday, October 24th at the Tewksbury Police Station, from 4-8 P.M. Please ask for Superintendent John Voto. Registration forms have been posted to the Tewksbury PAL website in the Handouts section at the bottom of this page. The cost of this year’s registration (which includes the team uniform of shorts/t-shirt and the Big East Tournament fees and end of season banquet) will be:
Grades K-8: $75.00
The max cost per family is: $135.00
The first practice is tentatively scheduled for Monday November 3. There will be a meeting for parents at this practice so that we can let you know what to expect and answer any questions you may have.
2008-2009 PRACTICE SCHEDULE: All practices are held at the Wynn Middle School.
Grades K-4: Practice Monday and Wednesday nights from 5:30-6:30.
Grades 5-8: Practice Monday ,Wednesday 6:30-7:30 and Thursday from 6:00-7:30
DUAL MEETS(NEW THIS YEAR): Matches for the newly formed MVC Youth Wrestling League will be held on Saturday mornings from 8-10AM( scrimmages will follow for all non-travel team members and anyone who would like addt'l matches). There are 8 teams in this new league ( Tewksbury,Tyngsboro, North Andover,Chelmsford, Westford, Nashua NH, Dracut and Haverhill). The schedule will consist of 2 Double Dual meets, 1 Single Dual Meet and a League Championship Tournament. Tewksbury PAL will be putting together a Travel Team and will need to fill 15 weight classes from 65-160 lbs. for 3rd -8th graders. We will have more on this new league : schedule,website etc. at the start of the season. Tewksbury PAL Wrestling has paid the registration fee for this league so there is no additional cost to join the travel team.However, we would like all travel team members to purchase a Team singlet.
SCRIMMAGES: Scrimmages will be held on most Saturday mornings(after Dual meets), usually from 8-10AM. Most are local ( Tyngsboro, North Andover,Chelmsford). Scrimmages are an excellent opportunity to experience live wrestling in a less formal atmosphere than tournaments. There is a tentative list of scrimmages we will be attending in 08-09 on "MY SITE NEWS".
TOURNAMENTS: Almost every Sunday during the season there will be a tournament for any wrestlers interested in competing. We will be posting a complete schedule of the Tournaments that Tewksbury PAL wrestling will be competing in at a later date. The cost of a tournament is usually around 10 dollars . Attendance at all tournaments is optional. There is a tentative list of tournaments we will be attending in 08-09 on "MY SITE NEWS".
UNIFORM POLICY. The official uniforms will be team shirts and shorts that are included with the registration fee. Uniforms are required for scrimmages. NEWSPAPER ARTICLES: We will place team and individual results throughout the year in the local papers ( Town Crier/Tewksbury Advocate). Please e-mail .jpg pictures to tpalwrestling @yahoo.com and we will try to include these in the paper as well.
WRESTLING CLUBS: There are many wrestling clubs in the area for those wrestlers who would like to learn some advanced moves and increase their level of competetion. SNOW/CANCELLATION POLICY: In the event that there is a snow storm on a practice night, practice will be cancelled if all after school activities are cancelled.
END OF SEASON BANQUET: Tewksbury PAL Wrestling hosts an end of season banquet each year at the Bunting Club on the Tewksbury/Lowell line. The food is catered by French's and is excellent. Guest speakers have been former/current Patriots Russ Francis,Pete Brock,Garin Veris, Russ Hochtein and others. Tewksbury's Coach Brian Aylward is always there to tell the young wrestlers what it means to be "Tewksbury Tough".
