Camping Trips over the Summer
Here’s the final schedule for the three camping trips planned this summer.  Please read the details carefully of each weekend you plan to attend or visit.  THERE ARE DEADLINES!!!  Call us ASAP when you’ve decided.  If you do not have a tent or camper, the state parks have small cabins for rent.  If you need, we have three six-person tents you can borrow.  If you cannot stay the night but want to visit, each campground allows for guests.  If a stray wants to stay, we’ll find a place for them with someone.  June 20-22 Orchard Beach State Park (North of Manistee)The campground is newly renovated and sits atop bluffs that overlook Lake Michigan.  The sites have electric hookups and there are bathroom and shower facilities.   You must make your own reservations through the Michigan DNR website.  We are at site #127 and there were plenty of vacant sites around us.   OPTIONAL FUN:  Saturday, June 21  (11:00-2:00)We reserved a 3-hour time slot at the TC Paintball course which is near Copemish (about 30 minutes away).  It’s an extensive area with three different courses.  Two are enclosed with obstacles where teams or individuals try to eliminate each other.  The other course is a 10+ acre spread that seems to resemble wartime Korea.  Teams are assembled and games are played such as capture the flag or last man standing.  The courses are all ours and it’s considered a private party for anyone who wants to go, even you are not camping.  At least eight players (no min or max age) must commit to play by the end of May.  There is no maximum limit of players, the more the better.  Call us ASAP to reserve your slot.   Rates:       $15 for persons who have all the required safety gear and paint markers (guns).  Additional costs include paint which must be bought on site and air refills.  $35 for persons who have no idea what to do.  You will receive all the safety gear, paint markers, air, and 500 rounds of paint.  Additional costs may include extra paint and air refills.                        $15 for 500 rounds of paint        $40 for 2000 rounds (a better deal that we can split)                $5 air refill  July 25-27 Turtle Lake Campground (near Honor)The campground is on a small lake with a beach and a reputation for excellent fishing.  The campground has boats and kayaks for use at no cost.  If you want to bring a boat, there’s a launch.  Only trolling motors are allowed.  The sites have electric hookups and there are bathroom and shower facilities.   We reserved six sites next to each other.  Make your reservations through us, not the campground.  If more than six families want to go, we can double-up on the sites or get additional sites (an additional fee would cost the same either way).  The sites are reserved until the end of May, so let me know ASAP. OPTIONAL FUN:  Saturday, July 26  (11:00-4:00)We reserved six canoes and six kayaks for a 5 hour trip down the Betsie River.  Sorry, no tubes allowed because of the shallow waters and numerous fishing hooks stuck in the logs.  If you would like to go, let us know by the end of May.  If we get a large group, other canoes or kayaks will need to be reserved.  Plan on bringing, and stopping for lunch at some time during the trip. Rates:       $60 for a canoe, paddles, cushions, and optional life jackets.  They recommend no more than two adults because of shallow areas which are hard to get through.  Three girls might be OK, but it’s no fun for the person in the middle. $45 for a kayak, paddle, and optional life jacket.  These are single person units only.  August 29-September 1 (Labor Day) Interlochen State Park The campground is on a large lake with a nice beach, volleyball area, good fishing and plenty to do.  The sites have electric hookups and there are bathroom and shower facilities.   You must make your own reservations through the Michigan DNR website.  We are at site #410 and there were plenty of vacant sites around us.   We will have our canoe and boat in the water for anyone who wants to use them (tubing seems to be the big hit).  Unsure at this time, but we may get to use a pontoon from a friend who lives on the lake.  ***  Again, please decide and let us know ASAP by the end of May.   Tim & Mo  946-9585
