The SYFFL SSenior Girls Division is a two team league. Each week the Patriots, coached by Jack Gorman & the Vikings coahed by Steve Cramer, have faced each other in head to head battles on the gridiron. Both teams have played hard for eight weeks and in many ways, all of the girls have come together as one team. Both teams play hard, show great team work, get along well, showing all the attributes you would hope to get from a team. One thing that stands out above all others is that both teams have the exact same record (4 wins, 4 losses and 1 tie)and have scored the exact same amout of points (196 points each). The chance of this happening is slim to none.
Week 9, the final week of the regular season, had both teams playing each other once again with identical 4-4 records. Chances were that one team would come out victorious and win the regular season, only to face each other for the tenth time on 11/1/2008 in the town Championship. There was a slim chance of a tie in week 9 leaving both teams dead locked at seasons end. Well guess what happened, poetic justice, a 26-26 tie to end the regular season dead locked.
Although someone must win the championship game, the fact that the Patriots & Vikings are the only two teams in the division has kind of forged both teams together as one team. All you have to do is watch one of their games and watch how they play together and enjoy each others company to understand that both teams are winners and that both teams are champions, at least in this fans mind!
Girls, keep up the good work and keep having fun
