Welcome to the Hurricanes Website
On November 4th, the Hurricanes played in the Fall State Championships. The Hurricanes had very high expectations. The team had played great throughout the Fall against some very good teams. They felt that the State Championship was there for them to take.
The Hurricanes did not take long to make a statement. They opened the tournament with a 15-0 victory over Tiger Mania. Ross Panepinto pitched a perfect game. He face only nine batters. Struck out six. No hits or walks! The defense was great as well. The Hurricanes then had to face the Terrytown Tigers. The Hurricanes won that game as well 5-4. That gave the Hurricanes the Number 1 seed for Sunday.
On Sunday, the Hurricanes opened with a victory over the Marrero Pirates 10-3. That set up a showdown with the Ponchatoula A's. The Hurricanes have had trouble with this team in the past. But that was the past. With some great hitting (Colton Caver's homerun) and soem great defense (Brett Barrilleaux at 2nd base) the Hurricanes shut out the A's 6-0. The Hurricanes were now heading to the State Championship game.
In the State Championship game, the Hurricanes played the Bayou Bombers. The game went back and forth. The game was not the best game of the tournament for the Hurricanes, however, the Hurricanes won the game 8-6. The Hurricanes are State Champs!
The Gulf Coast Hurricanes are off to another great start for the 2007 baseball season. The Season record is now 14-4.
