Registration Information:
We have made a few changes to help make sure players are playing at their correct ability. It is the goal of the SRVLL board that your child play at the level that is right for them. This has changed the way you will register so please see the tips below to help you. Also, PLEASE make sure you are in the SRVLL boundary BEFORE you register. Only players that live in Alamo, small parts of southern Walnut Creek and norther parts of Danville are eligible to play in SRVLL.
Step 1 - Determine your child's LEAGUE AGE.
The easiest way to determine this is to visit the Little League website and use their league age calculator for baseball:
http://www.littleleague.org/leagueofficers/Determine_League_Age/League_Age_Calculator.htm
Step 2 - Determine which level will be appropriate for your child.
For AA, AAA and Majors, players will need to tryout and be drafted into those levels. Tryouts times will be selected during on line registration. Unlike in years past you will need to sign up for a tryout time instead of it being assigned by last name.
Below is a description of each of the levels:
League Age 5 and 6 - T-BALL - First year players. If a player has NOT played T-Ball before then this is where they start. Players hit from a batting T, play nearly every position during the season, no scores are kept and it is all about FUN and starting to learn the game. Outs are made, but players stay on the bases. Games are three innings long or about 1:30.
League Age 6 and 7 - FARM - This division is COACH pitch (25-30 feet away from one knee). If a league age 6 player has already played one year of T-Ball AND they are ready for the next level they can move up and play Farm. League age 7 players will be the bulk of this division. In farm outs are made (and players leave the bases), but every player bats every inning. No scores are kept and the focus is all on learning the game of baseball in a fun and exciting way. Games are four innings long or about 1:30.
League Age 7, 8 and 9 - SINGLE A - This year single A will be KID pitch from 46 feet. Bases are 60 feet apart and we play on dirt infields. Single A is designed for almost all the league age 8 players, a majority of the league age 9 players and any league age 7 players that are advanced for their age. Continuous batting is used and three outs are recorded each half inning. Scores are kept, however there are no standings. There will be no playoffs in Single A this year. Games are five innings long. Games are just over 2 hours.
League Age 8, 9 and 10 - DOUBLE A - To play in AA players must attend a AA tryout. AA is via draft and players must be picked onto the team. Double A is designed for a majority of the league age 10 players, around 30-35 league age 9 players and the top 1-3 league age 8 players. Continuous batting, 3 outs per half inning, bunting, base stealing, in field fly rule are all used in AA. Scores are kept however there are no season standings. There are playoffs in AA. Games are six innings long. Games are just over 2 hours.
League Age 9,10, 11 and 12 - TRIPLE A - To play in AAA players need to attend a AAA tryout. AAA is via draft and is designed for the majority of league 11 year old players, the top 27-30 league age 10 players, the top 1-3 league age 9 players and ANY league age 12 players who do not want the demands of playing in the MAJORS program. Full Little League rules apply to AAA. Scores and standings are kept, there are playoffs and games are six innings long. Games are typically under 2 hours.
League Age 10, 11 and 12 - MAJORS - Majors is via draft and designed for the top 1-3 league age 10 players, the top 29-31 league age 11 players and the top 60-64 league age 12 year olds in our league. Teams practice 5-6 days per week and play 23+ games per season. Full Little League rules apply and scores and standings are kept. There are playoffs and games are six innings long. Games are typically under 2 hours.
