NEWS !!  With boundary changes made in 2008, your league now serves the boundaries of South Lane School District (primarily Cottage Grove), AND Drain, Elkton, and Yoncalla school districts!  The boundary description is attached as a link on the "South Valley News Page" !

The "original charter" for South Valley Little League was filed with Little League Baseball and Softball, Inc. in January of 2003 and we have provided an ongoing service to the community since that time!  Our boundaries are primarily west of I-5 and just south of Eugene/Springfield.
Click on the blue "map" icon by the webmaster if you'd like a better idea of where we are located ...

Little League Baseball and Softball is a very unique “Youth sports” program – being first and foremost a "Child Development Program" using baseball and softball as the means to help our youth become healthy, productive, positive members of their adult community!

With respect to participating YOUTH and to the ADULTS stepping forward to Volunteer:  Little League® does not limit participation in its activities on the basis of disability, race, color, creed, national origin, gender, sexual preference or religious preference.
... and will not turn any child away for lack of or limited funds.

The term "Little League" and the Little League logo are federally-registered trademarks of Little League Baseball, Inc., Williamsport, Pennsylvania, extended only to local chartered leagues for purposes of identification and publicity.

Our primary focus and goal is to provide every child within our boundaries the opportunity to experience LEARNING and IMPROVING on the fundamentals of BASEBALL and SOFTBALL in a FUN and educational environment - playing in Little League. Our objective, as with all Little League® programs and noted in our Constitution, is to "implant firmly in the children of the community the ideals of Good Sportsmanship, Honesty, Loyalty, Courage and Respect for authority, so that they may be well adjusted, stronger and happier children and will grow to be good, decent, healthy and trustworthy citizens."

We are part of Oregon's District 9 (newly formed prior to the 2003 season).  When the first league chartered in Lane County, and due to the wide spread, yet "limited-in-number" interest, we started with one HUGE league serving Lane County and now have five leagues focused on creating the 'hometown' feeling best known across Little League.  Click on the league name for additional information regarding their specific program. Leagues are only authorized to register players residing within their legal boundaries.

WILLAMETTE VALLEY LITTLE LEAGUE - serving Springfield, Marcola, Mohawk, Pleasant Hill, Lowell, Creswell, Dexter, and Oakridge.

THURSTON LITTLE LEAGUE – formerly “McKenzie Little League” – serving the community around Thurston High School.

SHELDON LITTLE LEAGUE - (formerly "Emerald Valley East Little League") - serving Sheldon and Harrisburg High School Boundaries.

EUGENE LITTLE LEAGUE – formerly “West Emerald Valley Little League” and “Bethel Little League” - serving the boundaries of Churchill, North Eugene, South Eugene, Willamette, Triangle Lake, Elmira, Junction City, and Crow high schools.

SOUTH VALLEY LITTLE LEAGUE®  is the League Baseball and Softball® affiliate serving our local community.  SVLL is not an affiliate of South Valley Rec Association.

Registrations for regular-season play are generally held in late January and into February.  Registrations may continue until such time as teams are formed - at the local league's discretion.

"What Ages?"

Little League uses an age cutoff date to determine "playing age" - and is in alignment with USAA Baseball and nation Softball programs.  "League Age" is determined as follows:

For Tee-Ball and Baseball: The child's age as of April 30th of the current year

For Girls' Softball: The child's age as December 31st immediately prior to the current playing season.

VOLUNTEER!  ... "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever does."
    Margaret Mead, US anthropologist, 1901-1978

BE A HERO! ... "Heroes are not giant statues framed against a red sky. They are people who say "This is my community and it's my responsibility to make it better."
Tom McCall, former Governor of Oregon, 1913-1983.

So, if you're in the area and not already involved - jump on in and let us know where you can be.  (Little League requires we do background checks on all volunteers who have repeated/regular contact with the players, so we will likely be providing you with a Volunteer Application Form to complete and return. Check the LINKS tab in the "directory.")

At all levels, we are non-profit.  Our league is a registered non-profit with the State of Oregon and included in a Federally Chartered Tax Exempt Group ...
the only youth program involving sports to have that credit.

We participate in Little League's "ASAP" - "A Safety Awareness Plan" Program annually, where the importance of safety is emphasized both on and off the field.
