South Dayton Sting Baseball Club Mission Statement:
The South Dayton Sting is a select baseball program for young men from the Dayton, Ohio, area. The Sting teaches fundamental baseball principles and strives to see incremental skill improvements from all involved. It is our mission to tutor players in an environment which stresses competiton, fun, sportsmanship, and work ethic. The ultimate goal of the Sting is to produce quality young men ready to play the game of baseball at the highest levels. We currently have teams competing at the 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, and 12U levels. Play will resume in the spring of 2009 in the Midwest Ohio Baseball League (formerly the Metro). Potential players for their relevant age group cannot have their next birthday prior to May 1, 2009. Announcements:
1. Sting Gear for fall baseball-There will be one more opportunity to purchase Sting Gear for those participating in fall baseball next Thursday, September 4th at 5:30 pm. Laura Weingartner will be taking orders until 7:00 pm under the shelter at Activity Center Park. The deadline for placing orders is Friday, September 5th. Thanks in advance. 2. The South Dayton Sting would like to announce a new training program available this fall and winter. The Sting will be offering one on one instructional opportunities in the areas of pitching, hitting, and defense. Students will be videotaped at various stages of development to document improvement. The private tutorial sessions will be administered by Coach Tim at a location and time convenient for those involved. Every participant will receive high end instruction using a building block teaching approach producing tangible results. Also, the cost will be much lower than other, less responsible parties would charge. If you have a child who is interested in real game improvement skill sessions let Coach Tim know via e-mail or telephone.
3. Important-If you are not going to accept and respect a spot on a Sting team for whatever reason, please let Tim Dunaway know a.s.a.p.
4. Please get your consent forms and deposit money returned to your coaches as soon as possible! Deadline is September 15th.
5. Fall Baseball-The South Dayton Sting will have two teams playing fall baseball this year. Team #1 will play in the 11 and 12 year old age division and team #2 will play in the 9 and 10 year old age division. Team #1 will be coached by Tim Dunaway and needs exactly one more player and team #2 will be coached by Brett Pritchett and is full. Anyone who has a child who who would like to play for the 11 and 12 year old team is encouraged to apply. Practices started the first week of August and games start on September 13th. All games are on the weekends in doubleheader format and will be played at Rice Field in Miamisburg. The cost is 80.00 per player which includes unifoms. Please e-mail Coach Tim if you are interested in playing fall ball this year.
6. A few insights for moving around and finding information on the Sting site. Each age group has a distinct icon which will display with all applicable games and practices listed on the top of this page. Directions to various parks can be found under locations on this site or on the MWOBL website which is listed under the links tab. Also, you can access your specific team information (eg. roster, stats, schedule, etc.) by clicking on the drop down box in each category and selecting the team you want. Any questions contact Coach Tim anytime.
7. Corporate donations: The South Dayton Sting receives about half the money it takes to operate select baseball teams from corporate sponsorships. Companies and individuals who would like to help out financially are encouraged to contact the appropriate age group coordinator. Any corporation, business, or individual who donates a minimum of $250.00 receives the following in exchange. Name on the website under the sponsors section, name on the team banner, framed team picture, thank you letter, and a follow-up letter. If you know someone who has interest in becoming a donor for the Sting please have them contact the relevant age group sponsor representative, Jim Yerkins (8U), Scott Bussard (9U), Mike Conley (10U), Ed Crouchley (11U), or Nick Giallombardo (12U). We can use financial help any time of the year.
8. Fundraisers-Any suggestions and/or help would be greatly appreciated!

The South Dayton Sting is an annual contributor to the Kettering Athletic Scholarship Fund in the name of Joseph Anthony Sharpe.
