Welcome to Somerville Alibrandis Official Web Site
This the is the official site of the Somerville Highlanders Alumni /Alibrandis Baseball Team.
The team has become a dynasty in Boston's Yawkey Baseball League, winning the League Championship in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 2005, 2006 and 2007. Conference Championships in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 made playoff apperances in 1995, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 2004 ,2005, 2006 and 2007 and won the league Stewart Memorial Tournament in 1991, 1992 & 1998. The team has also enjoyed National Recognition starting the 2003 Season as the 11th ranked team in the United States by the National Semi-Pro Baseball Association.
The team was founded in 1990 and in 2008 the team will be playing its 19th season as part of Boston's Yawkey Baseball League. In that time they have sent over 30 players and coaches to take part in the YBL's annual All Star Game at Fenway Park. Field Manager Mike Powers has managed 11 All Star Games(97,98-07) and the team has had the games MVP 7 times over the years.
The team has been sponsored by Alibrandis Barber Shop since 1994( see our sponsor section ).
The team is better know as "Somerville Alibrandis" ever since.

2B - Kevin White Announces His Retirement
After leading the team to its 10th Yawkey Baseball League Championship in 2007, Kevin White retired from the YBL this past week and the team announced that no one would ever wear the #12 again. Kevin who was the team captain was a 5 time all star, who holds a unique distincition of being named Most Valueable of the Regular Season(2002), Playoffs(2003) and of the Fenway Park All Star Game(1996). Kevin was also voted a winner of 7 consecutive Gold Gloves(2001-2007) for his tremendous defense and won the 2003 Silver Slugger Awards as the best offensive second basebaseman in the league. The future YBL Hall of Famer retires as maybe the best second baseman in the leagues history and as the all time YBL leader in hit by pitches. The team will miss his leadership and passion for the game, but wish him the best in his life after baseball.
David Sprague Inducted into Yawkey Baseball League Hall of Fame Class of 2008
At the upcoming Yawkey Baseball League Awards Dinner at the IBEW Hall in Dorchester, Somerville Alibrandis outfielder David Sprague will be inducted into the Yawkey Baseball League Hall of Fame. A recognition that is long overdue, David becomes the 9th member of the Somerville Alibrandis Baseball Club to join the Yawkey Baseball League Hall of Fame. David was a member of 3 Yawkey Baseball League All Star Teams, highlighted by being named the Co-MVP of the 1998 at Fenway Park( 3-3, 2B, 3b ) and was a member of 3 Yawkey Baseball League Championship Teams.
Alibrandis 2008 Season Set to Start Friday, May 9th at Trum Field
The Somerville Alibranids Baseball Club are ready to start the season this Friday night at Trum Field. The Yawkey Baseball League just announced its 2008 schedule. Please check the YBL site for updates.

Commissioner Dan Tarpey - RIP
League President Dave McKay has informed all the members of the Yawkey Baseball League that long time Comminssioner Dan Tarpey has passed away. Here is what Dave wrote:
It is with deep regret and sadness that I inform you of the passing of the Father of the Thomas A. Yawkey Baseball League of Boston.
Commissioner Dan Tarpey entered into rest this morning at 1:30AM.
Dan was surrounded by his entire family at his son Dan's Residence in Cohasset, MA. He is at peace now and his suffering is over.
Our good friend did so much to nurture us as sportsman in the Yawkey League over the years. I am so proud to have been a friend of his and know how much he loved all of you and your players.
