SRSA Travel Team Support

 

The league will support 7 travel teams based on spring registration numbers from 2007. It will always be the attempt of the SRSA to sponsor at least one travel ball team for each of the following playing age groups, 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U.

 

Travel Team Selection:

1. A written request to the SRSA Board of Directors will be required of all prospective Traveling Team coach(s) on or before the July 1st. The written request will include information which details the following;

·         Purpose and mission of the team

·         Level of play intended to compete at (A, B or C)

·         Proposed Roster size

·         Participant Financial commitment

·         Number of Tournaments intending to play

2.   Traveling Team Coach applicants may be interviewed by the SRSA Executive Board and any interested Board members before being considered for League sponsorship.

3.   Traveling Team Coach and coaching staff must agree to adhere to SRSA policies and procedures including:

             a.   Player selection.
             b.   Coaching conduct.
             c.   Communication with the Board.
             d.   Any other policies as amended by the Board.

4.   Traveling Team Coach applicants must have managed or coached at least one year of all-stars or traveling ball with SRSA.  If no manager applicant in a particular year has the requisite experience, other applicants may be considered.  

5.   Traveling Team managers must be approved by a majority vote at a SRSA Board meeting. A written appeal may be presented to the Board by any coach who is not approved by majority vote.   

6.   Traveling Teams must maintain the SRSA identity through the inclusion of “Sharpsburg” or “Coweta County” on all uniforms in addition to mascot name.

7.     Selecting assistant coaches will be at the discretion of the Traveling Team Head Coach, but will not begin until the player selection process is complete.  Assistant coaches must be approved by a majority board vote.

8.   Any and all coaches participating in instruction of the girls, either through practice or games, must first have a background check performed per county requirements.

9.   All travel team coaches and players for teams in the 10U and younger age group are expected to participate in the SRSA fall Recreation season. Coaches may divide their team into two equally split teams whereby the coach and assistant coach may coach each of these teams. This is required to help train girls and improve the quality of play in the recreation league. 12 U and 14U girls are expected to participate in the SRSA Sponsored Middle School league where applicable.

Player Eligibility:

 

To the best of our ability, all travel ball teams will consist completely of girls from the SRSA or Coweta County. Exceptions may be allowed depending on certain circumstances, but must first be approved by the SRSA Board of Directors. Exceptions shall be limited to the bare minimum necessary per team.

 

Team Tryouts:

 

All travel team tryouts must be coordinated through the SRSA BOD.

 

  • Tryouts times and dates must be approved by the SRSA travel ball coordinator.
  • Tryouts may not be scheduled prior to October 1st for the 10u and younger age groups.
  • Tryout times and dates must be posted on the SRSA website and communicated to each age group coordinator to inform all recreation league participants.

 

Team/Player Selection:

 

  • Coaches are responsible for selecting players, however, the SRSA BOD reserves the right to participate in any and all tryouts and player selection process.
  • Designated coaches are required to submit a complete roster to the SRSA BOD upon completion of tryouts and selection of team. Coaches are responsible for the verification of resident status of all players and must provide home address and phone number for each player selected. Any player who willingly provides false information on their resident address will be dismissed from the team immediately. Furthermore, any coach who willingly provides false information regarding resident status will be banned from coaching in the SRSA for three (3) years.
  • Players are to be notified within two days of completion of tryouts and any player not selected must be provided a skills assessment which details which skills need improvement.
  • Once roster is established, no player may be “picked up” or “added” to any SRSA sponsored travel team roster for any reason during tournament play without prior approval from the SRSA travel ball team Coordinator, President, or Vice-President.
  • No coach may dismiss a player from the team without first obtaining board approval. Any such request will require review of situation by SRSA Travel Ball Coordinator.

 

Cost:

 

Each travel ball team participant will pay the following fees; County Parks and Recreation fee (currently $15), Insurance fee (currently $10), SRSA fee (currently $20). Any player not living in Coweta County must pay an additional $75 County Parks and Recreation fee.

 

SRSA Support:

The following will be provided to each travel team registered through and sponsored by the SRSA.

  • Two practice times will be provided each week based on field availability. SRSA Rec teams will always get first choice of practice days/times.
  • Reduced admission to each SRSA sponsored tournament throughout the year. There will be at a minimum one tournament conducted at or near the end of the spring recreation season.
  • Use of all SRSA facilities available as scheduled.

 

 

 

 

Coaching/Team Conduct

 

The following rules will govern play of all travel ball teams supported through the SRSA. Violations are subject to revocation of SRSA League support.

  • All teams must understand you are representatives of the SRSA and your conduct at all times shall reflect favorably upon this organization
  • Any coach may be dismissed immediately if their actions, both on or off the field, are deemed inappropriate or detrimental to our league purpose and values. Such action requires review of violations committee and majority board vote.

Communication with the SRSA Board of Directors

 

It is fully expected that all travel ball team coaches will be communicate with the board via the Travel ball team coordinator or by attending board meetings. The SRSA BOD reserves the right to amend policies and provisions that govern support for travel ball team play, and as such, require all travel ball coaches to remain a part of the SRSA organization.
