                      Downeast Wood Bat Classic

Behind the arm of Ronnie Mitchell the 35+ team representing our league advanced to the semi-finals of the Downeast wood Bat Classic. In the semi's the old folks held a 3-2 advantage before losing 4-3 in the last inning. Al Buell tried his best but a nagging hamstring limited him and Rob Garland finished the game. Bob Nadeau and Rich Beaupre had multi-hit games against the "Can" but Buell had a big 2-run hit off the former Sox righthander. Ben Ruggles left his mark on Oil Can that he will not soon forget. Cameron Paine did a great job behind the plate and all the players who participated should be proud of their efforts and contributions.

1st ever Seacoast NH MSBL "Wood Bat" Invitational

The NH 38 club won the 1st ever Invitational defeating fellow Seacoast NH MSBL players in the finals. Karl Douglas was the winning pitcher going the distance for the 38 club. Ron "The man who saved the tournament" Mitchell was solid on the hill in the finals as well. Mitchell's club played five games in a 30 hour span. The 38 team run by Rob Garland went a perfect 4-0. Portland Maine played well in the Semis but came up short as Jim Stevens and the Mitchell club pulled out a walk off victory on a Downtown Eddie Brown game winning single. The Medford Mets of the Boston MSBL played well but injuries took their toll on the beantown club. This Iron Man tournament was played very well by all teams and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Thanks to all who participated and have a great off season.
