2006 Season Review
TIGERS OPEN THE 2006 SEASON WITH A WIN (May 8/2006)

The tigers opened the season with a 9-6 win over the expansion Saskatoon Jr Giants. The Giants scored 5 runs in the first inning. The Tigers clawed there way back and score 6 runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 9-6 victory. Regan Sproule got the start for the tigers, and settled in after a rough first inning. Rookie left handed pitcher Dylan Nahorniak came out of the bullpen with 3 solid innings of relief. The tigers next action is Friday May 12 @ 6:30 Pm when they play the Outlaws. Stay tuned to the Tigers website for the 2006 season schedule.

TIGERS DROP CLOSE-ONE WITH OUTLAWS (May 12/2006)
The Tigers ran into both offensive and defensive problems on Friday night. Rookie Dylan Nahorniak received little help on either side of the ball and took the loss. While Mark Lepage went five strong in a two-hitter for the Outlaws. Outlaw catcher Scott (Doug) Forrest had his second multiple hit game in as many starts with two Rance Mulinuks-style rockets to different sides of the park. The Tigers hope to respond with a better effort when they return to the field Tuesday night versus the Stallions.

TIGERS ON LOSING-END AGAINST BLUE JAYS (May 26/2006).

The Tigers showed up with a nine-man squad for the second time in as many outings. Jamie Janzen pitched a strong seven for the Tigers giving up six in a 6-2 loss. Janzen seemed to get stronger as the game went on and will be expected to throw three or four simulated innings before his next start to get warmed up. Tigers' call up Todd Dufferin from the bright lights of the Unity area had a solid game at second base and may see a long term contract from Tigers' management. Manager Jared Bayne had prior commitments and was unable to attend the Tigers's post-game news conference at the Shark Club Bar & Grill, so news on Duff's future status was unavailable.
TIGERS DROP BIZARRE GAME IN MUENSTER
Tuesday night's game had one of the most bizarre twists in recent memory. Tigers Pitcher Regan Sproule pitched a no-hitter through six, handing off to young workhorse Jamie Jantzen that kept up the no hit bid. The only catch is the Tigers found a way to drop the decision in an 8-inning contest. Three errors led the way to Muenster tying the game in the bottom of seven at one a piece. The game ended on an extremly controversial play at the plate from a sac fly of the bat of Chad Hoffman in the bottom of eight. Mike Smith, one of the Tigers' young guns came up gunning and appeared to have the runner at home, however the runner was called safe on the play and the Tigers went home point-less. Starter Regan Sproule had this to say "That one stung a bit, a no-hit loss how does that happen." Skipper Jared Bayne also commented "My large monster-cookie blizzard and extra-large poutine "heavy-all" won't taste as good after that extra-innings kick in the junk."

TIGERS ANNOUNCE FRESH NEW "PR" SLOGAN FOR 2006 SEASON.
               "9-MAN BALL"
T-shirt deals are currently being discussed with numerous sportswear companies who are excited to come on-board with exciting Tigers Baseball.

THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT!!!!(June 1/2006)
The Tigers saw some solid pitching from their young pitching staff on Wednesday night. Dylan Nahorniak started and went 4.2 innings to pick up the win, giving way to Jamie Jantzen who pitched 2.1 to pick up his first save of the year. The final score was 7-4 for the Tigers over the Outlaws. After a solid start from Nahorniak , Jantzen entered in the 5th getting the final Outlaw hitter to ground out leaving a man stranded at third. Jantzen pitched himself into trouble in the 6th allowing the first three men to reach base with three of the most feared hitters in senior baseball due up, Jantzen managed to pitch out of the situation and had a three up three down inning in the 7th to seal the deal.

KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Was the story friday night as the Tigers got a big lift from pitcher Adam Peters. Peters came in to relieve Rookie Dylan Nahorniak in the bottom of the third inning and finished off the Kindersley Raiders 21 strikeouts later in extra innings giving the Tigers a 7-5 come-from-behind victory and a trip to the winners side in the Annual Father's Day tournament. Jared Bayne smacked a two-RBI single to put the Tigers up 7-5. Tigers' catcher Mike Broadfoot had this to say after the game "Yah Bayner came up big with some hitting but the whole story of the night was Peters, I don't think we'll see a performance like that ever again, The guy was throwing nothing but smoke, It was wicked to be a part of."

9-MAN BALL COSTS THE TIGERS AGAIN
The Tigers were trailing the Saskatoon Giants 4-1 at the end of the 6th innings. After being punched out for the second consecutive time looking at strike three rookie Dylan Nahorniak was ejected for throwing bat and helmet. The umpire in charge decided for the first time this season a player would be punished for committing the violation. The option to warm Nahorniak was apparently wavied and he was ejected causing the Tigers to forfeit when it appeared their bats where starting to wake up a bit. Tigers' skipper Jared Bayne is pondering taking up the incident with the league brass. Nahorniak will undoubtedly be more careful handling equipment in the future.

MAKE SHIFT LINE-UP COMES UP JUST SHORT TO OUTLAWS
The Tigers received a strong 6 innings from starter Jamie Jantzen but were unable to rally against Outlaw reliever Tyson Vogel falling 6-5 to the 9-time provincial champs. The Tigers had 7 players 25 minutes prior to game time and racked up skipper Jared Bayne's cell phone bill trying to field a team. A last minute call-up was needed to field a team. Catcher Mike Broadfoot had this to say "yah our clubhouse looked like the telemiracle set with 7 guys on their cell phones calling everyone they knew to try and fit a jersey, it sucks for Jared to have to do that every game."

TIGERS DROP 7-4 DECISION TO RED SOX IN MUENSTER
The struggling Saskatoon Tigers took their show on the road on Tuesday. Surprise surprise Jamie Jantzen got the start for the Tigers and pitched well. The Tiger defense didn't show up as they committed 5 errors behind Jantzen. Skipper Jared Bayne made his presence felt as he ordered take out at three different restaurants in the city limits of Humboldt.

TIGERS WELTER IN THE HEAT AGAINST MARYSBURG
The Weather was hot but the Tiger bats were ice cold against Royals veteran Murray Baumol. The final score was not available at press time however Tiger's veteran Regan Sproule pitched well for the Tigers and ate up some innings allowing workhorse Jamie Jantzen to play shortstop. Centrefielder Bryan Briggs played phone a friend on Thursday night and came up big getting the Tigers' roster to 9. Skipper Jared Bayne watched the game via satellite on a big screen T.V from a Chucky Cheese in Edmonton. The Tigers hope a solid beer night will recharge their bats and give them an added boost heading down the stretch in search of a playoff spot.

JANTZEN HEATS UP FOR TIGERS
Another phone a friend night had a positive ending for the Tigers Tuesday night. Former Tiger Ryan Mazzei and Brett Baron bailed out the Tigers at the last minute to avoid the forfeit. Tiger's Ace Jamie "rubber-arm" Jantzen turned in one of his better outings of the year, while setting a new Tigers' appearance record and impressing the "AA" scouts in attendance in the process. Jantzen went seven strong for a 6-2 win over the Saskatoon Blue Jays who were also experiencing roster shortages. Tigers' veteran Regan Sproule also continued to swing the hot lumber. Sproule has seemed to find his stroke at the right time as the Tigers' aim to inch closer to a playoff spot.

TIGERS DROP CLOSE-ONE WITH OUTLAWS

The Tigers introduced fun league veteran Rich Seaward to their lineup to take on the Saskatoon Outlaws. Seaward went 1 for 2 with the teams' first hit and some steady defensive play at 2-bag. Seaward was quoted after the game "Yah it was nice to lace them up again in the senior league, it cut into my Beiley's time though and now I only have time for 18 beer before last call, I've got an EDO tommorow." Thursday's final score was unavaialable at press time but the Tigers went through a season high four pitchers, ending with closer Jared "Enter Sandman" Bayne. Next Tiger action is Sunday, a double header sports fan against the Saskatoon Bluejays @ 6:30 and 9:00 at Cairns field.

JANTZEN LEADS TIGERS TO SPLIT WITH JAYS

Jamie "Rubberarm" Jantzen turned in another solid seven innings for the Tigers in a 9-1 victory in the first game of a double-header on sunday night. After the first batter of the game scored for the Jays, Jantzen shut the door for the win in his second consecutive start. The Tiger bats were also alive, along with some impressive base running. In the second game of the double dip, pitcher Dylan Nahorniak threw a solid six innings for the Tigers coming up on the short end of a 4-2 score. Skipper Jared "Monster Cookie" Bayne made his first start behind the dish of the season for the Tigers. Next action for the Tigers is Thursday July 20th @ 9:00pm versus the Saskatoon Stallions at J.F Cairns Field, be there early for good seating and potentially a chance to play.

BAYNE INJURED AT YOUNG MUELLER'S BIRTHDAY BASH!!!
Skipper Jared "Monster Cookie" Bayne was hit with a soft inflatable yellow ball hurled by an unknown assailant sunday afternoon while on hand to celebrate the 1st birthday of his godson Tytan Mueller. Bayne was playing over by the swing-set when he was struck by the smiley-face ball, Bayne went down for several minutes and had to be helped to the front of the buffet line. Bayne is listed as day to day since the team's next game is in Marysburg on Sunday July 30th. Bayne had this to say, "I won't let this lower body injury keep me away from that sweet pie in Marysburg."

The Saskatoon Tigers organization would like to apologize to our loyal webpage subscribers for the lack of Tiger's coverage the past few weeks. Certain high profile events and a lengthy playoff run has limited coverage of "Saskatoon's Team".

See you in 2007!!!!!

No Comment!!!!!

The Tigers travelled to Marysburg Sunday June 5 for a 6 team mini tournament. The Tigers landed up coming home with 1 win and 1 loss. The bats finally come out of hibernation, as the tigers had some clutch hits in both games.   In the first game the Tigers won 7-0 Vs Muenster. TIGERS LOOSE 2 MORE IN MUENSTER (June 12/2005)

The Tigers travelled to Muenster on Sunday with a very short bench for a double header. Losing the first game 3-2. The second game was a much different game. The offences started to hit the ball, and the game ended up 11-8 for the home town Red Sox. Mike Smith had the best day for the Tigers, with a display of solid hits at the plate as well as a solid throw from the fence to catch a Red Sox player going for a double.

TIGERS 0 STALLIONS 2 (June 14/2005)

Once again the Tigers couldn't buy a hit with runners in scoring position. The Tigers had 5 hits and stranded 7 runners Tuesday night against the Stallions. Jantzen got the start and threw very well once again only giving up 3 hits. The Tigers Defence had its best outing of the season looking very sharp. The Tigers will look to get their offence going this weekend, when they take part in the Fathers Day Classic Tournament.

TIGERS 6 CARLYLE 5 (June 18/2005)

The Tigers pulled off a win in their first game of the fathers day tournament. The game was played on a very soggy field. There was a small lake in foul ground in front of the Tigers dugout along the third base line. The game was also played while the grounds crew pumped water out of foul territory. The Tigers lead the game 5-1 but saw their lead vanish as Carlyle managed to tie the game in the top of the seventh. Ryan Mazzie landed up scoring from third on a bases loaded feilders choice ground ball, to win the game for the Tigers in the bottom half of the seventh.

TIGERS COME UP SHORT IN GAME 2 OF THE FATHERS DAY TOURNAMENT (June 19/2005)

The Tigers faced The Outlaws in Game 2 of the Fathers Day tournament, bright and early Sunday morning. (8:00am Start) The Outlaws scored 3 runs in the first inning. Jamie Jantzen had the best game for the Tigers, Jantzen pitched 7 solid innings and help out the offence with 2 doubles.

TIGERS GET SHUT OUT FOR SECOND TIME THIS SEASON (June 22/2005)

It was the same story for the Tigers offence on Wednesday night as its been all year, the offence struggled. The Tigers only managed 2 hits in a 5-0 loss to the redsox. Reagan Sproule got the start for the Tigers and Ryan Mazzie came out of the bullpen in the 5th. Roomer has it that the Tigers may have to fire their hitting coach if they can find him.

TIGERS FALL TO 0-3 AGAINST THE STALLIONS (June 26/2005)

Dusty Nesbitt got the start on sunday. The Stallions jumped out to a early lead scoring 4 runs in the first inning. The Tigers Defence didn't give Dusty much help which included 5 errors during the game. The final score was 6-2 for the stallions. The Tigers only managed 4 hits.

STALLIONS SLIP BY THE TIGERS (July 5/2005)

Regan Sproule got the start for the Tigers Tuesday night. The Tigers had 6 hits, which included doubles by Dusty Nesbitt and Mike Broadfoot. The Final score was 6-3 for the Stallions. A key stat on Tuesday night was the 8 men left on base by Tiger hitters. The loss could have proved extra costly for the Tigers, after starting second baseman #2 Brian Hubbard was forced to leave the game in the 5th with a lower body injury, x-rays were unavailable at press time. Player of the game for the Tigers was rookie outfielder Trevor Gately who supplied the club with some gritty at bats and a couple sparkling plays in rightfield.

TIGERS TAKE ANOTHER ON THE CHIN! (July 12/2005)

Another ugly outting for the struggling Tigers squad last night against the Muenster Red Sox. The game had a lot hype leading in, but ended with a sell out crowd including many league brass officials and SBA reps leaving empty handed. The Tigers again only managed 3 hits with Footer snapping Stroeder's no-hit bid in the 6th with a single up the middle. Dan Raukman made the Tigers pay with a triple and a three-run bomb for the Red Sox. The final score was unavailable at press time but we hope to have it for you next year sometime. Player of the game for the Tigers was Second Baseman #2 Brian Hubbard who returned from injury to single and play a solid game defensively for the Tigers after shaking off the DL rust in the Team's infield warmup. Also Chris Nomeland made his return to the line up after a shoulder injury in May. It was also the final time the two clubs will meet this season.

TIGERS FORCE EXTRA INNING AGAINST THE OUTLAWS (July 15/2005)

Friday nights game was one of the best games of the season played by the Tigers. The Tigers managed a season high 11 hits, and 8 runs scored. The Tigers trailed 8-4 going into the bottom of the seventh. The Tigers managed to tie the game up, and had the bases loaded with 2 outs however the tigers couldn't get a game winning hit as Brian Bauer grounded out with a 3-2 count to end the rally. Ryan Mazzie pitched all 8 innings for the Tigers and had a very impressive outing. Player of the game was once again rookie Trevor Gately, who went 3-3 at the dish and had some solid aggressive base running. The game also saw the Outlaws having to revert to some trick plays, which included the hidden ball trick. The final score wasn't available at press time.

TIGERS NEW OWNERSHIP INVESTS IN STEAMROOM (July 22/2005)

Acting on a tip from third baseman #8 Ryan Mazzei the new Tigers' ownership group invested in a top of the line steamroom for the players to sweat away the suck in hopes of building team moral and producing some wins. The players were however unaware of the new facility friday dropping a game to the blue jays 3-1. Dusty Nesbitt was a dynamo for the Tigers pitching 6 solid innings giving up only one earned run and also produced an R.B.I double. Needless to say Dusty took the nod as the Tigers' player of the game. On a sidebar the Tigers were without veterans #9 Brian Briggs, #2 Brian Hubbard, #44 Grant Hanson, and rookie old guy #27 Mike Flaman. The club hopes to have these characters back in the lineup monday versus the Outlaws.

OUTLAWS 5 TIGERS 3 (July 25/2005)

The scoreboard read 4-3 for the Outlaws, but the official Tigers scorebook said that the Outlaws scored 5 runs, either way the Tigers came up short once again against the Outlaws. Trevor Krieke got the start for the Tigers and pitched very solid, which included 8 strike outs, Jamie Jantzen made a appearance out of the bullpen and added 4 strike outs. The defence couldn't get the job done which saw 4 errors committed. The Tigers offence managed 4 hits.

TIGERS CAN'T HOLD ON AGAINST THE JAYS (August 3/2005)

The Tigers had a 5-1 lead going into the sixth inning Wednesday night, however the Jays bats managed to wake up. Which included the Jays pounding out 2 deep homeruns. The final score was 9-5 for the Jays. Dusty Nesbitt got the start and Ryan Mazzie came out of the bullpen. The Tigers offence had 8 hits, which included RBI doubles by Mike Broadfoot and Dusty Nesbitt. Centerfielder Bryan Briggs had the busiest night on the defensive side of the ball.

DEFENCE CAN'T GET IT DONE AGAINST THE ROYALS (August 4/2004)

Jamie Jantzen couldn't get any help from the defence Thursday night. Jantzen only gave up 4 hits and had 6 strike outs, but his defence behind him committed 5 errors. In the 9-5 loss against Marysburg. The Tigers had the lead 4-3 in the fifth but couldn't hold on. The Tigers offence had 7 hits in the game, and was lead by shortstop Dusty Nesbitt who had a RBI double, and a stand up triple. The only bright spot on the defence was call up rookie Kyle Cooper who played very solid at 3rd base in his second apperence with the Tigers this season.

TIGERS OFFENCE EXPLODES IN MARYSBURG (August 7/2005)(Game 1)

The Tigers hit the highway for a road trip Sunday morning. The Tigers arrived in Marysburg around noon, and weren't very excited about the fact that they had to play a double header against the powerful Royals. However due to some very needed comic relief by Ryan Mazzie, the Tigers settled in for their best game of the season. Regan Sproule got the start for the Tigers and threw 6 1/3 solid innings. However the story of the game was the Tigers offence who pounded out a club record 16 hits, which included every starting Tiger having a hit and at least 1 RBI. The most notable bat was that of Tigers played coach/manager Jared Bayne who had a career best game going 3-4 with 5 RBI and a sacfly. Bayne also had mop up duty on the mound in the seventh when he came in to get the final 2 outs of the game. Final score was 13-8 for the Tigers.

GAME 2 NOT AS GOOD FOR TIGERS IN MARYSBURG (August 7/2005)

After the Tigers offensive explosion in game 1 of the day, the offence struggled in game 2. Jamie Jantzen got the start for the Tigers, and kept the game close. However couldn't get the help he need from the offence, who managed only 4 hits. The final score was 6-1 for the Royals. In a interview at the Humboldt Dairy Queen coach Bayne had this to say "all and all it was a good day, we will take the split, the Royals are a good team and it is nice to get a win in their park, did you see my trot????....mmmmm what kind of blizzard do you have there?????"

TIGERS MAKE IT CLOSE AGAINST THE OUTLAWS (August 8/2005)

The Tigers just can't figure out how to beat the Saskatoon Outlaws. Chris Nomeland got the start for the Tigers and had a great outing. The Tigers were losing 5-3 when they scored 3 runs on a bazaar play in the bottom of the sixth. The bases were loaded for the Tigers and a ground ball was hit to the short stop, the throw to first base was off target and was heading for the dugout, when the ball hit the railing and bounced towards the fence on the first base side. Third base coach Ryan Mazzie noticed that there was no outlaw covering home plate, so all three runners on base managed to score. However the Tigers couldn't hold onto the lead, when the outlaws score 2 runs in the bottom of the inning. The final score was 7-6 for the outlaws. The Tigers were please with their performance, who were missing some key players in the game which included Ryan Mazzie, Dusty Nesbitt and Brian Hubbard all out with injuries. Also slugger Mike Broadfoot was out of the lineup.

TIGERS SEASON COMES TO A END WITH A DOUBLE HEADER AGAINST THE REDSOX(Aug 16/2005)

The Tigers completed their season Monday night with a pair of games against the Saskatoon Redsox. In game one Jamie Jantzen got the start for the Tigers. The Tigers managed to get the win. The offence had 8 hits and scored 6 runs. The final score was 6-2.

In game 2 of the night the Tigers played a close game, coming back to tie the game at 2 in the sixth. However the Redsox managed to get run to end the game and the Tigers season in the bottom of the seventh. Reagan Sproule got the final start of the season for the Tigers and Trevor Krienke made a apperance out of the bullpen. Final score was 3-2 for the Redsox.
