Gator Alum: Roger Clemens
San Jacinto College North is the only junior college to claim a Cy Young Award winner among its former players, an award claimed six times by Roger Clemens. As a Gator in 1981, Clemens fanned 82 hitters in 85 2/3 innings en route to a 9-2 record. Clemens holds the record for Cy Young awards. The right-hander has won two championships with the New York Yankees. Paul Miller, San Jacinto's assistant coach in 1981, said Clemens had "genius-level control - the perfection of coordination and mechanics."

Gator Alum: Jeff McCurry
"Playing at San Jacinto College (1990, 1991)did everything for me. Pitching here made me want to be the best I could. Not only did we have an excellent coaching staff, but the teammates we competed against in practice were outstanding." McCurry went on to pitch in relief for the Pirates, Tigers, Rockies, and Astros.

San Jacinto to NCAA All-American
Jesse Crain had a huge season for the University on Houston on the mound, defensively at shortstop, and at the plate garnering All-American honors. Former Gator cousins Damon and Charlie Thames both took the path of going from successful JUCO careers at San Jac to NCAA Division-one All-Americans. Damon was an All-American for Rice as a shortstop in 1998 after playing the 1996 and 1997 seasons at San Jac and Charlie (98, 99)was selected as an All-American for UT as a relief pitcher in 2000. The three players followed Roger Clemens (San Jac 1981) who was also an All-American for the University of Texas.
