Meet the Saline Blue Jays
The 2006 Saline Blue Jays 13U team is comprised of 7th grade boys that
share the love of baseball and thrill of competition. Founded in 2002 as a
9U team, they wowed us by winning their debut tournament, thereby earning
a World Series berth early on, then stunned us by winning the 9U USSSA State
Championship.
The boys continued their winning ways in their 2003 and 2004 seasons by
placing first in the 10U and 11U Kensington Valley League respectively. In
2003, they won the Michigan Bull Tournament, took the District title for the
second year in a row, finished runner up with strong showings in Regionals
and the Fourth of July Tournament in Ohio and took home 3rd place honors in
the USSSA State Tournament and CABA World Series in Marietta, GA.
In 2004, they continued on to win the Memorial Day tournament in
Canton, MI, succeeded through the semi-finals in State tournament, and
finished an exciting second place in the USYBA World Series in Knoxville,
Tennessee. The Saline Blue Jays were further presented with the highest
honor of the USYBA World Series, the Sportsmanship trophy as voted by the
umpires, organizing committee and other team coaches. In accordance to the
USSSA Power rankings, the Saline Blue Jays ended the 2004 season ranked 1st in the State of Michigan and 3rd in the Nation.
This year, the Saline Blue Jays will play in the Kensington 13U division
open division and will participate in tournaments throughout
the season hoping to qualify for another World Series opportunity.
While the Saline Blue Jays return this season with a desire to play and
a commitment to win, being a Blue Jay also means being willing to learn,
being eager to have fun, and being open to new experiences in our play and
our travel adventures. Backed by a supportive, fun-loving group of parents
and siblings, the boys are looking forward to playing in the 13U league and
the myriad of tournaments that await them.
