New Byrnes PSL Seats POSSIBLE? see information below

May 7, 2008

Dear Rebels Fan,

We are evaluating the possibility of adding two more rows of the PSL Blue Seats at

Nixon Field and need to determine the level of interest and economic feasibility.

The 390 seats we now have were first installed for the 2006 football season.

They were offered to fans at an initial price of $150.  Those who purchased them

bought season tickets as well and were given the option to maintain their seats by

purchasing season tickets each following year.  During the 2007 football season,

we only had 4 seats that were not renewed.

Due to the slow turnover and increased interest we contacted the company that

manufactured the seats to get an estimate for two additional rows, or 38 seats.

The quote we have received back from the company is $250 per seat.  If we have

enough fans that are willing to purchase these seats at this price we will order

them and have them installed before the 2008 football season.

The seats will be offered to fans on the waiting list first and then to any others who

are interested.  The athletic department will determine the seating assignments

and will try to accommodate special requests.  Fans purchasing seats will have

the option to retain their seats each year by purchasing season tickets.  Any seats

not renewed will be sold to other fans.

If you would like to purchase one of the new PSL seats at Nixon Field for $250,

please let us know by calling Marie Meyers, the Athletic Secretary at Byrnes

High School at 949-2360, ext 132, or email marie.meyers@spart5.net no later

than May 14, 2008.

We appreciate your support and look forward to an exciting season.

Sincerely,

Billy Young

Athletic Director

NIKE HQ
Wednesday, May 7
1st Annual Nike 7on7 National Passing Tournament

Who: Eight of the top HS football teams in the country
We're bringing together eight of the top football teams in the country. This
isn't necessarily the eight best 7 on 7 teams in the country but eight teams
that are very good in the pads who also happen to have strong 7 on 7
qualities such as a strong passing game and defensive back play. We're also
coming up with some unique rules for the tournament that will make the games
more like how real football is played in the fall.

When: July 16-18th
All teams will be flown in on the 16th. There will be an opening ceremony
that night and then we¹ll kick off the action with pool play on the 17th.
The 18th will be the championship round of games and teams will be flown out
once the tournament is over.

Where: Beaverton, Oregon
All games will be played on the NIKE campus in Beaverton. Players will be
staying in local hotels near the campus and buses will be shuttling the
players to and from games.

Cost: All expenses paid
We'll be covering all expenses on the trip including airfare, hotel and
food. In addition, players will be given NIKE care packages when they check
in. Each team can bring 24 players and six coaches. NIKE is also giving the
option for any team to bring additional players (up to six) but that would
be at the teams own expense.

Again, we¹re really looking forward to this event and feel it will be a
great experience for players and coaches a like. There will be some great
events and guest speakers to go along with the tournament and we're
confident this will be a once in a lifetime experience for everyone
involved. Thanks for your participation and we look forward to seeing you
guys in July.

The Byrnes Team will most likely be staying at the Embassy Suites in Tigard.
Parents can look for lodging in the areas of Tigard, Beaverton, Lake
Oswego and Hillsboro, Oregon and be with 10-15 minutes of the hotel and also
Nike Campus (in Beaverton) where all the games will be played. Spectators
are welcome at the games.

Byrnes High School Football team provides the buddies for the Miracle League

This was sent by a teacher to the staff and district in School District 5

I just wanted to send a note telling everyone about the terrific
experience I had tonight.  I have a special needs child who plays
baseball in the Miracle League.  In this league, each child gets a
"buddy" to help them bat, run the bases, play the field, etc.  Tonight,
the Byrnes High School Football team provided the buddies.  It was a
moving experience watching these gifted student athletes give of their
time and talent to these special kids.  I saw teenagers snuggling
little children, sharing their jerseys, carrying kids, pushing wheel chairs,
encouraging the kids, etc.  The children were absolutely thrilled to
have these "stars" making them the center of attention.  Many of the
players volunteered to buddy for the 2nd game.  What a great joy it was
to witness these kids give back to those in need.  As a parent, I
enjoyed getting to watch a game from the stands too!

If you have a football player in your class, be sure to commend them on
their volunteer work.  I am sure this was just one of many events in
which they participate.  However, I know that this made a huge impact
in a short period of time.

Thank You Byrnes Rebels!!!!!

GAME NOTES/OBSERVATIONS
  • Byrnes CB Cartier Rice & CB Curtis Thompson both took turns covering Summerville WR A.J. Green with help over the top from S Justin Bright. They had great success shadowing Green all day until he left with an injury in the 3rd quarter. (We hear he may have suffered a concussion)
  • The Byrnes defense shored up after the Green Wave scored on their first drive of the game. They didn't really pressure QB Reid McCollum too heavily but did enough to keep him off balance as he missed some throws that he normally makes.
  • The overall speed and athleticism of the Rebels was apparent in today's game today.
  • Summerville LB Justin Ball-Collins had a nice game with 7 tackles and a sack on the day. We'll keep a close eye on his recruitment.
  • Summerville junior WR LaQuan Gilliard made plays on both sides of the ball and appears to be a player
