Spring 2009 Divisions

PV North LL strives to create an atmosphere that will provide the best baseball experience for the players. We do our best to assign players to a division according to their ability. With that in mind, a player who has participated in a division in another league, or our fall ball program, that was based on age alone, may not neccesarily play in that division in the spring.

Coach-pitch: Ages 5-7

Goal of this league is to introduce the game of baseball to the kids; batters get three pitches from a coach - if ball is not hit, then they use the tee. Teams are assigned by location, requests accomodated if possible, but not guaranteed.

Minors "A": Ages 6-9

Coach-pitch first 75% of season, machine-pitch last quarter. Continue development of baseball skills. Players are assigned to teams through a draft.

Minors "AA": Ages 7-10

Machine-pitch first 75% of season, modified kids-pitch last quarter. Player development continues - prepare for playing kids-pitch. Players are assigned to teams through a draft.

Minors "AAA": Ages 8-11

Kids-pitch. Continue with player development - prepare players for Majors. Players are assigned to teams through a draft.

Majors: Ages 10-12

Competitive kids-pitch. Scores and standings are kept. League champion represents PV North in the District 3 Tournament of Champions. Players are assigned to teams through a draft.

Juniors: Ages 13-14

Competitive kids-pitch, on a larger diamond, using Major League rules. Players are assigned to teams through a draft. May play against teams from other leagues.

Seniors: Ages 15-16

Competitive kids-pitch, on a larger diamond, using Major League rules. Players are assigned to teams through a draft. May play against teams from other leagues.

Congratulations to the 9/10 All-Stars - 2008 State runner-up!
Kudos go out to the PV North 9/10 All-Stars, who completed State tourney play with a 12-2 loss to Arrowhead on Wednesday night.  They finished as State runner-up - highest finish for a PVNLL All-Star team since 2003! Their overall record during the postseason was 12-2.  Special thanks to manager Bruce Johnson and coach Lee Lieberman, who both did  an outstanding job in leading this group throughout the All-Star season. Also, the tournament officials in Casa Grande commended all PV North parents, players and coaches on their exemplary sportmanship during the State tourney. We are proud of the accomplishments of this team - way to go boys!

Congratulations to the PVNLL Major All-Stars, who finshed as runner-ups in District 3 after a hard-fought 3-1 loss to High Desert on Saturday night.  The team finished with a 6-1 record. They represented the league well, and battled all the way.  Special thanks to manager Tim Crow and coach Mel Mallinak for their time and effort working with the team.
