Attention High School Seniors
Before the upcoming Scholastic Ice Hockey season gets underway, the Philadelphia Flyers are proud to sponsor an opportunity for high school seniors to play in an All-Star Season Preview to be held at the Wachovia Center before a Flyers home game.
Last October, Keith Primeau and Durham Hockey Institute hosted the 2007 NJ Prep Senior All Star Game. Eighty seniors representing the best talent from over 300 area high schools played before representatives from the NHL, USHL, NAHL, Canadian junior leagues, and US colleges and universities. This year the semi-final games will be played on Tuesday October 28th at the Flyers Skatezone Voorhees.
The success and strong support of this event has enabled Durham Hockey Institute to continue it’s partnership with the Philadelphia Flyers and encourage players and coaches to support this event for the 2008-2009 season. Coaches are asked to do everything they can to make their players aware of this event. Qualified players will nominate themselves via the online application form at www.durhamhockeyinstitute.com. Select the DHI Cup link.
There is no fee to apply or participate. The only requirements are that all players must be seniors during the 2008-2009 scholastic season on a New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, or Delaware varsity high school team and have completed the online application available at the Durham Hockey Institute website prior to the October 5th application deadline. A panel of scholastic coaches selected by Durham Hockey Institute will choose the final rosters which will be posted on the website by 10/10/08. There are no tryouts for the DHI Cup.
This event will give high school seniors the chance to play in front of representatives from a variety of college and junior teams, and as an added bonus, all participants in the DHI Cup Finals (date to be determined) will receive tickets to the Flyers game played after the DHI final. We hope that you’ll take advantage of this tremendous opportunity for local student-athletes. Thank you for your support and best of luck during the upcoming season.
