Fall Wrap Up
The 2008 edition of the Pearl River Wildcats wrapped up the fall a couple of weeks ago.  This years team is a good mixture with a chance to pitch and play defense pretty well.  We have four sophmore arms returning on the mound with some good young pitchers that will help the rotation.  The infield will be all freshmen except for Zach Tisdale of Petal that returns after a red shirt season due to shoulder surgery.  Nick Smith and Mike Lindsey return in the outfield with Dustin Langley and Scott Ashley in the mix to see good playing time.  Derek Tortorich our starting catcher from last years team is out with an unusual break in his foot and will have to redshirt.  Newcomer Michael Diaz has proven to be a good replacement for Tortorich for the catching position.  Michael is a transfer who has been drafted and has a good shot of his name being called again.  Nick Smith led us in hitting this fall with Ethan Burt and Seth Edwards.  Michael Diaz will also be counted on to hit in the middle of the line up.  We are looking forward to the upcoming year and the season opener is Febuary 16th on the road and the home opener is Febuary 20th against Mississippi Delta.
