Rain Out Policy
Games will be played in the rain unless the fields become unsafe, lightning is present, or there is a steady downpour. Usually the OUSL Board of Directors present at the field will determine when to cancel the games. However, if in the opinion of the game’s center referee, the playing conditions are unsafe, the center referee has the authority to stop and / or cancel the game. All coaches must abide by the center referee’s decision. Additionally, a message is usually posted on the OUSL website if any games are cancelled so you might want to check the website before heading to the field.
If any games are cancelled, there are no makeup games. However, coaches may choose to contact the opposing coach and set up a date during the week to play the cancelled game. This game would be a scrimmage and no referees would be available.
So if there is rain in the weather forecast, check the OUSL website prior to your game and if there is no cancellation notice, then plan to play your game as usual. The rain may be inconvenient for the spectators but the players usually love playing in the rain (don't forget the umbrellas!).
