Welcome the Newest District Staff members!
welcomelaserlight

Since January 1st, 2008, District 9 has added several staff to the board ... joining others with their focus on helping all leagues within the boundaries, and any developing areas!  If you have questions for them, click on their name to send an e-mail ....

Jeni Hendrickson - Challenger Division Development - parent of one of our Challenger Division players, will be working directly with the District Administrator in recruiting, sharing information, and boosting this special program!

Scott Denham - Rep for Baseball Upper Divisions - (prior president of West Emerald Valley) will be working on the Upper Divisions of Baseball including Junior, Senior, and Big League ... as we coordinate scheduling and promote growth and development.

Shawndel Lindfors - Media/Publicity - Secretary for Willamette Valley, Shawndel shared her ingenuity early on:  finding the "Kids Directory" and helping get information all the leagues in a publication distributing 10,000 copies across Lane County!   Check out "Kids Directory" - Volume II, Issue 3

Bonnie McClendon - Secretary - the 2009 President for South Valley, Bonnie will be assisting the District Administrator "where needed"  :-)

Dean Inouye - Head Scorekeeper (Instruction) - Dean has been a big help at tournament time and led the All Star Scorekeeping Clinic for the 2008 tournaments.  We're very glad he has accepted the position of "Head Scorekeeper" for District 9 !

Chris Lindfors - Field Lighting Inspections (non-staff/local approved contact) - on Willamette Valley's board for Safety, Chris will be the contact for inspecting any field in the district that has lights, certifying that the lights meet Little League standards before the lights are used for any practice or game.

A truly heartfelt WELCOME goes out to each of these special Angels!

LITTLE LEAGUE is, first and foremost, a CHILD DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ...
believe in yourself

we just happen to use sports as a means to help develop children into the best citizens possible for their future."

We're state- and federally-registered as a 100% volunteer, non-profit 501(3)(c) organization - each  of the leagues in our District as well as The District .
Little League is the only Federally-chartered youth program of its kind!

Little League® is an "EVERY-KID-PLAYS-THAT-HAS-THE-DESIRE"
Youth Program - accommodating as best we can the needs and abilities of each child,
seeking SPONSORS to cover the cost of every team's uniforms - and more - and DONATIONS to help keep any absolutely necessary costs down that may be extended to families - never turning a child away for lack of funds,
and always recruiting toward the best volunteer pool ever!

Unlike many programs, Regular Season - in our area, that is generally March through June 15th - is for Every Kid ... then Little League moves into the Tournament Season where more 'select' and more competitive teams play off for 'championships.'  The 9-10 and 10-11 year old teams end their tournaments at the State level.  The older divisions have the opportunity, with continued wins, of advancing to Regionals and World Series - where Little League is truly represented by teams from Around The World!

(Oh My!  Could it Be?  Maybe YOU're one of those folks who needs to step up and help your League Help The Kids!)

TEN thoughts to consider for players and volunteers ...

1. Nobody ever became a ballplayer by walking after a ball.
2. You will never become a .300 hitter unless you take the bat off your shoulder.
3. An outfielder who throws in back of a runner is locking the barn after the horse is stolen.
4. Keep your head up and you may not have to keep it down.
5. When you start to slide, slide. He who changes his mind may have to change a good leg for a bad one.
6. Do not alibi on bad hops. Anybody can field the good ones.
7. Always run them out. You never can tell.
8. Do not quit.
9. Do not fight too much with the umpires. You cannot expect them to be as perfect as you are.
10. A pitcher who hasn't control hasn't anything.
