PITCHING RULES CLARIFICATION FOR 2008 SEASON:

Little League Baseball has instituted a new regulation designed to protect pitcher's arms.

Up 'till now, pitchers have been limited to six innings per week, with a maximum of three innings per game.

The new rules, in effect starting this spring, regulate the amount of pitches thrown instead of innings pitched, determined by the league age of the pitcher; how many thrown per day, with rest days determined by the amount of pitches thrown that day.

Little League Programs offered by NCLL:

Spring Program (April - June) - For the 2008 Spring Season, NCLL serves eligible boys and girls who were born on or between the dates of May 1, 1995 and April 30, 2001 (see age chart above for eligibility). All new (i.e. first time) applicants to NCLL must reside in, or attend the public schools in, the school districts of the Cabot, Peirce or Ward Elementary Schools. Information on the other Newton Little leagues is listed at the bottom of this page.
Summer Travel League - We are placing three teams into this league, by age. There will be an 11/12, 10 and 9/8. Tryouts are necessary - we seek 15 per team. Watch this space for details, or email info@NewtonCentral for more information. TRYOUTS FOR 9U ARE PLANNED FOR SATURDAY JUNE 14 AT CABOT FIELD - All league age 9 and under players (AA) will arrive at 9AM for tryouts. Please note this is an all-star team so only the top 15 players will be selected. See the Newton West program below for an inclusive program.
10, 11 and 12 year old team tryouts have NOT been set yet. DATE & TIME TO BE DETERMINED

Summer Program (July - August) - The Newton Summer Baseball League operates two summer intramural programs. These are instructional leagues with relaxed competition and are open to all age eligible Newton kids. The 7, 8 and 9 year old League is an all-Newton program directed by the Newton West Little League Click HERE for more information. The program is for players who have played farm or minor league baseball in the spring and who would like to get more experience with players pitching under relaxed competition and rules (generally AA Level). Ten-year-old players may participate. This league is for any NON-TRAVEL league player who wishes to continue playing through July and into the middle of August.

The 10-12 year old League is an all-Newton program directed by Newton East Little League. Teams consist of Major Division players from all 5 of the Newton Little Leagues, who may or may not be playing on a Summer Travel or Williamsport team. Minor Division (AAA) players who are likely to be eligible for the Major Division next spring are also included in this program. Some 9-year-olds may also participate if they are likely to be Major Division eligible and at the commissioners discretion. Click HERE for more information on 10-12 summer league.

Fall Program (September - October) - The NCLL Fall Baseball program is a competitive program with opponents from other Newton Little Leagues as well as Little Leagues from Needham, Belmont, Brookline and Weston. For purposes of the Fall league, participants must be age eligible for the upcoming Little League Spring Season (see table below). Major Division Program Consists of players who were members of a NCLL Major Division team last spring and who will also be eligible for the upcoming Little League Spring Season. Occasionally players from AAA teams may be considered, strictly by invitation only. Minor Division Program Consists of players who were members of a NCLL Minor Division team last spring and who also will be eligible for the upcoming Little League Spring Season.
