SCHEDULING METHOD-FOR HOME DATES, ETC.
=====================================================================================
The following example is the easiest scheduling method, most easy to use method, 3 to 5 times less paper method. It is also my preference because it follows the KISS (keep it simple stupid) principle.

NOTE: There are only three decisions to make for each date - Home Dates, NO Play dates, and dates you can play away (at someone elses field). It is only necessary to list two of them - Home dates and NO Play dates. Any dates you don't include in these two are then AWAY dates (dates you can play at someone elses field).

The following is also much easier to type in an email and send.

****HOME DATES****

START DATE (Date you wish to start your schedule, i.e. 5/9, 5/16)
5/9, 10:00A, Russell Road Park #1
5/12, 6:00P, Kentlake HS
5/16, 10:00A, 1:00P (Double Header), Kent Memorial Park
5/22, 12:00P, Kentlake HS
6/2, 8:30P, Russell Road #1
ETC. until you've listed all your home games.

****NOT AVAILABLE****

May 17, 25, 27, 29, 30, 31
June 1, 2, 6, 7, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 25
July 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Be realistic about your NO PLAY dates. Every year after the final schedule is released, teams having NO PLAY dates all of a sudden can play on those date (Good God guys). Don't list no play dates like you can influence the number of games in a row. All that happens with those kind of schedules is that I just get you scheduled and whatever teams I can't schedule is now your problem to schedule. For those teams that don't do that I DO look at the number of games in a row and if at all possible move them around. For you who insist on being coy, ENJOY the problem you create for yourself.

****SPECIAL SCHEDULING ITEMS****

May 14th - Available after 2:00P

ALL LEAGUE INFORMATION NEWSLETTER
Subject: 15U-16U & 18U NEWSLETTER AA#1 5.12.08

People I’ve run these leagues 22 years now and this is the worse year for people unable or unwilling to read the Constitution or play by the stated rules.

I do believe I’ve sent personal Team emails to those missing something. At some point we have to register nationally, now, and we’ll have to drop you form the league and no refund of any monies paid & the umpires will be cancelled for your games. If we have to cut and paste your roster the cost is $150 from your performance deposit- last warning J

I’ve had some of you, thanks, who have sent duplicate rosters/insurance just to make certain they weren’t on the S&^%$ list, in a day or so I’ll send a list of those items missing by team-although didn’t want to single them out, if it was just an oversight or one of the never never land deals J -but now everyone has been notified –several of them several times-so the door is about to close.

The Constitution has a “TABLE OF CONTENTS” to easy your burden in locating stuff.  The FAQ section at the End can be very helpful as well.

1.  Article 17 is easy reading about the rosters to be submitted and now to submit them-it’s Childs play! But we get mailed rosters-PDF rosters all of which are clearly useless.  This is May and were still fighting to get rosters-dead line is/was March 1st.

1.  Article 23 is easy reading about the requirements for Insurance.  If your insurance agent doesn’t understand “additional named insured” then you need to get a new one fast.

1.  Article 5 tells you all the important League Contract information: addresses/emails/phone etc. “Who’s Who in the zoo”. It even gives the PSBL web site address and it also tells you that if your out of town or you computer crashed you can catch up by looking at the posted newsletters for your age group and league.

1.  Article 7 each team must have two working email addresses:  this is because S#$%^ happens and email go to never never land and at least there is another chance you’ll get the information timely.  There are a whole bunch of emails that “come back”, we can’t change/update them unless you tell us. Article 7 repeats the web site & assists you in finding the info and so does Article 26.

      1.  Article 12 Scheduling:  Boys the purpose of these leagues is to play the game, not look for ways to get a forfeit, of course the rules are also written so those that don’t brother to return calls or have excuses can get it in the shorts as they should.  Some times good guys get screwed but we’ve tried to minimize that.

         1.  Somewhere in the Constitution it begs you to supply your Team Mgr, Team Mom, Coaches, Treasurer the information-it seems to rarely happen.

        1.  Article 14:  If your going to protest anything it must be in writing & must be specific-your protesting and expecting a correcting action-with all the information [don’t just want a FYI thing]: Teams involved, date/field/time of game/ a reference to the Constitution of the specific rule violated; and accompanied with a Check for $100 and all within 24 hours!  And to the Pres (Les Dow), you time starts at the end of the game/protest day, if you send the protest to other than Les your time may expire & the protest consideration not allowed.

         1.  Article 15: Umpiring and Members Code of Conduct and 7.  the PRE-GAME CONFERENCE   7. Volumes-like HOW TO FILL OUT A LINE UP CARD- Bobbie T. or Bubba #10- are not appropriate nor professional and not acceptable line ups- full name, position and number are required-We’ve had several doing the Mikie thing, it’s like not wearing a coaching uniform-NOT ACCEPTABLE.

         1.  Article 15: also talks about the Members Conduct:  CONTROL YOU SELF, PLAYERS AND PARENTS, and please read 1h. get out of the dugout and get off the field do your ½ hour team meetings and running in other parts of the park, if there is a game to follow-just common courtesy!

         1.  See 7. above I found it- Article 16 6.  Spread the information.

         1.  Article 16: Management of the Teams-THERE IS ONLY ONE OWNER and that is a person.

         1.  Article 18: we do appreciate that several have read this portion of the Constitution and done things properly-thanks

         1.  Article 20: Seems to be completely ignored by a bunch of you:  PLAYING RULES- seems like a good idea to have your coaches, mgrs, team mom read this section and maybe have a test.  GET THIS PLEASE:  WE PLAY BY THE BIG BOOK AS ALTERNATED BY OUR ARTICLE 20 PSBL RULES- not high school or pony or American legion or any other rule-READ ARTICLE 20 AND discuss the rules at home plate. Do not have a coach out of uniform on the field, do not throw at any player-ever! Do not allow you parents to attack to opposing team.  Do a proper line up card.  Go thru the umpires with your line up’s.

         1.  Article 26: FAQ!   A lot of questions could be eliminated by just reading this.

Actually many many of you do the paper work, spread the information to your organization, do things right, it’s a few that just can’t seem to read and understand and it’s frustrating to us to have to go back and forth on something so simple as read Article 17 and just do it-to those of you that do it thanks very much this newsletter isn’t for you J

Subject: FW: General Newsletter All Leagues Jan 29, 2008

I. No. Of Games per League:   We have been unable to set the final # of games per League –given all the changing sides J.

With 5 Leagues and 91 teams we want to get it right the first time-if humanely possible: **THUS PLEASE LOOK BELOW FOR YOUR LEAGUE AND TEAM AND MAKE CERTAIN WE HAVE YOU IN THE CORRECT SPOT.  [as always no comment from your group and we’ll assume and set you in concrete]  You do not need to respond  “if” the leagues are correct as far as you team(s) is concerned.

II. PLEASE GUYS when you ask a questions or send in information please State in the Subject Line Re: MM15U The Washington System & Questions/comment, so I can easily ID you, I know you think I should know you and what division your in and recognize your email address –but that “ain’t” the way it is J   with about 273 email addresses were dealing with and multiple teams with similar names who play in the same and/or different leagues-you can see that I’m making a case for my inability to remember you-sorry but I’m starting to have trouble remembering my grand-children’s names J. Please help me out.

III. Large Problem:  Getting emails from people in your organization who have not read the Constitution, don’t know we have a Constitution or a web site & want me to enlighten them on how to schedule, where to send money, even who to write the check to-if you can believe that! ; tell them what was said in a newsletter!; and where the roster information is located & on and on.

IV. Scheduling: Is explained in the Constitution and plus Dean wrote up a easy to follow procedure on the Web Site-yet Q’s keep coming in which have been previously explained.

V. COMMUNICATION: All newsletters for your league and all other leagues are posted on the Web site- so if you’re out of touch for a while you can get updated.  Please understand, we just don’t have time to explain to your Team Treasure or Scheduler or team mom what PSBL is about, & J after a bunch of these redundant calls Dean and I snap a little (we have lives also-Dean needs to get to the golf course) and of course it’s the innocent coach who didn’t know we had a constitution and that 99.9% of every single think they would ask or need or want is already written down & he need not brother us if he could just read or knew that he could just click on a web site and read-  “Life would be Wonderful”.  FYI there are still a lot of email that come back-wrong address, no such person etc-if you would check the dist list and let me know the letter we screwed up –it would be appreciated and would insure someone /everyone gets the information.  And if your not getting newsletter-oh we’ll then you wouldn’t know…scratch that…J

VI.    PSBL is on the Verge of completing a contract agreement with a Snohomish Umpires & all games will be schedule by Dean. We will have a list of the fields they cover out in a few days, so you will know if you fall within their area.  As everyone should know, if you field falls in the NBUA and WWBUA Area’s they umpires are scheduled thru PSBL.  If you don’t fall within these areas then the Constitution tells you what happens! J

VII.           Mickey Mantle West 16U Regional will be held in Kent Wa. At Art Wright Field July 23rd-27th 2008

VIII.        Connie Mack West 18U Regional July 22-26th (two teams from Washington) Long Beach, Cal.

IX.   FYI  CABA 16U Regional at Hartman Park –Dow Baseball Club is full & one on waiting list. 15th  Amos   Bacon is Full.  CABA 15U Regional at Hartman Park has two opening, but only can take two teams to keep the pools even- 10 currently registered.

        X.      All Tournaments were informed up, we have forwarded to the age level involved- then we delete them.

Subject: FW: 18, 16, 15 General Newsletter - 6-5-2008

I.  Had inquires about State Tournament dates:   Below is all the tournaments and the dates to be played, cut off dates, etc. etc.  I’ve sent out Brackets to the Host teams to fill in the game dates but of course we won’t have seeding inserted until the cut off dates for each tournament.   A few days prior to the cut offs for each league will have a show and tell-which teams will take a spot if they earn one!- Forfeits will play a part and now so may rain outs.

Newsletter 2-08 11.30.07

   I. REQUEST FOR GOING TO A NORTH SOUTH CONCEPT VS OLYMPIC & CASCADE

1.  **Have had a single request for going to a North and South 16U League instead of Olympic and Cascade!

2.  Currently there are 11 Cascade teams and 23 Olympic teams- and a couple haven’t responded to us about their division-so this is + or -.

   II. CONSIDER

    A. Cascade teams could or would be playing the more select teams.

    B.  Have to decide where the cut off is for a South Team.  I ASSUME FROM Kent south & across the water in one league.

    C.  Would still have two State Tournaments-but the Cascade teams would not likely make either State Tournament.

   D. If competition is your goal, who knows, the better teams may all be in the South and the Northerners don’t get to play them.

   E.  Some Travel would be easier to handle.

   F.  As it is: Cascade teams would play a home and away schedule & the Olympic teams would play each other once.

   G.  NOTE BELOW HOW THE BREAKOUT WOULD BE BY OWNERS ADDRESS.  7 South teams (four Olympic & 3 Cascade teams) (unless Seattle wants to be in the South + 4 teams-3 are Cascade teams and 1 is Olympic)

   H. The North has 28 teams including the 4 from Seattle-  this would be a 27 game schedule or if 4 go South then a 23 game schedule.

 III. NEED RESPONSE-PDQ

   1.  Here is the deal:  if you feel strongly for the North South Concept then send me an email: ID your Teams and League and preference.

   2.  You four Seattle Teams-need to let me know if you want the No./So. That you’ll play in the South.

   3.  Otherwise if not enough responses then we’ll stay Olympic and Cascade.

   4.  Need to do this quickly so we can set up the league and get things rolling.  I’LL RECAP THE   PREFERENCES  ON TUES NEXT-DEC 4TH, so vote or your non-vote -you’re voting for the status quo!

Les Dow PSBL

My 16U team _____________________  votes for  1. No/South      or    2. Olympic/Cascade

Seattle teams if you want the No/So Leagues then tell us your willing to play in the South League.

The divisions would be:  Boys of Summer Stampede, Dow15 BB,

15U Cascade:

************************************************************************
****************************
II.    Note the "official" team name we have as the owner of the team may be shortened for the Schedule

due to space, but you're Insurance and Rosters need to be noted with your "official Team Name,
kind of like nick names for you guys with long names.

III.    A lot of the emails keep coming back, so obviously I've written them down wrong, so if you don't get
this, then correct your email or you could check the dist list and see if your other email address
             isn't correct-it's called relating:-).

      VI.   Deleted

       V.    So far two teams have asked to Host the 15u Cascade State Tournament: Trident Baseball
(Auburn  Mountainview HS-Field Turf Field) & Magnolia Baseball (Magnolia Field -Seattle).  Both
you teams need to tell me the dates you have your field .  FY:  2007 tournament was held
July 12-16th 8 teams   Making cut off for league games to count July 8th.  The exact dates of the
tournament can be matched to your field times-so let me know the dates you would want to host
the tournament - Can be + or - .  Read the Constitution about Post Season Play -dream
            wish for a tournament host.

VI. COMMUINICATION WITH LEAGUE (PSBL) .
            A.    Please use the Subject line:  Re: 15U MM & your team name and then the questions or
                   comment :-)
            B.    We have 90 teams and a lot of teams have multiple teams and or names that sound alike, each
league can have a different answer to the question & we'll recognize your name, but may not
association it with the team your talking about :-)
            C.    Multiple emails is good, more chance that you get the message from one of your baseball
                   buddies.
            D.    All newsletters are put on the web site, so if your email is down or your out of town or whatever
you can always get updated by going there:  www.eteamz.com/mm15mm16seniors
            E.    Please communicate with your team mom, treasure, administrator, mgr, coaches- we don't
have time to deal with all of them on the same questions/answers we covered in the
                   Constitution or the newsletters-please :-)
            F.    Dean Veal does all the scheduling (including for Dow Baseball 16's) so if you have a scheduling
question please contact Dean (it's fine to CC me but do not expect an answer from me unless

To:   15U MM Olympic and Cascade PSBL’ers:  Your first half league fees are delinquent-  oops – sorry my bad-
here they are…………….. so you have until Feb. 15th ! J     As per the Constitution if we add or drop out
teams or anything was missed,  we’ll adjust on the 2nd half fees.

I.               LEAGUE FEES 15U MM CASCADE LEAGUE:  14 TEAMS   - 26 League Games – 13 Home games.

Playing each other twice.  League Fees $2,132. (this does not include the performance deposit you have already paid).

1st Half Fees due Feb. 15, 2008.    Treasurers:   $2,132/2 = $1066 less deposit paid.  For most the deposit was $500 which would leave $566 Due Feb. 1st  & $1,066 bal due April 1st  please.  Or if you want to pay the entire thing that is fine also.  See Article 5 for whom and where to send $.  Appreciate not sending checks with cents.

Regional most likely will be in Washington although we’ll have to get back to you on that.    NOTE WE NEED TWO ROSTER FORMS FROM ALL 15U TEAMS.  It does not matter that you don’t intend to go the BR State route, it is for national registration so that “other league teams” may choose that route.  Both rosters are on the web site- read Article 17 & note you need to enter your insurance certificate/policy numbers on the BR form.  Read Article  9 2. F.  $150 charge from the league, if,  we have to cut and past your second roster for you - J  Save money-you do it J

IV.         NOTE: BR HAS A NEW REQUIREMENT THIS YEAR-IN ORDER TO COACH A BR TEAM YOU MUST PAY A FEE, of course,  AND GET A COACHES CERTIFICATE. I UNDERSTAND IT’S NOT OWNERSOME-BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO DO IT; can be done online.     www.baberuthleague.org  and click on the Coaching Certification link.

      V.            LEAGUE FEES 15U MM OLYMPIC LEAGUE:  18 Teams – Two 9 team Divisions, playing twice in Division & one cross division - 25 League Games – 12.5 Home games (this doesn’t compute)  League Fees $2,080 (this does not include the performance deposit you have already paid).  1st Half Fees due Feb. 15, 2008.  Treasurers   $2,080/2 = $1,040 –deposit paid, for most the deposit was $500 which would leave $540 Due Feb. 1st & bal, $1,040, due April 1st.  Or if you want to pay the entire thing that is fine also.  See Article 5 for whom and where to send $.
