Windsor Midget Selects Win OBA Championship
The Windsor Midget Selects won the OBA Midget Championship, posting a 5-1 tournament record, finishing off the tournament with a 5-1 victory over the Toronto Mets.

Bronze Medals for Senior & Pee Wee Stars

The Windsor Stars captured the bronze medal at the Canadian Senior Baseball Championships in Brandon, Manitoba.  The Stars failed to qualify for the gold medal game after an 11-1 loss to British Columbia.  However, the Stars rebounded in their third game of the day with a 10-4 win over Nova Scotia to secure the bronze medal.

In action at the Canadian Pee Wee Championships in Vaughan, Ontario, the Windsor Stars Pee Wee team suffered their first loss of the tournament to British Columbia by a score of 7-1.  The Stars came back with an 11-5 victory over the host team, Vaughan to win the bronze medal.

 

Congratulations to both teams.

Stars Go To Extra Innings

The Stars came up with three runs in the sixth inning to tie the game at four apiece after trailing Manitoba 4-1.  It would take 11 innings for the Stars to get the job done.  John Picco pitched 8 1/3 innings with Matt Stezycki coming on in relief.  The Stars will face undefeated British Columbia in their next game.  This game which was scheduled for noon will be backed up due to the lateness of the Stars first game. The winner of this game will advance to the gold medal game.  The loser will play for the bronze medal, against the loser of the other semi-final matchup featuring Nova Scotia & Quebec.



Saturday, August 23
Stars Split at Canadians

The Windsor Stars suffered their first loss at the Canadian Senior Baseball Championships, losing to Quebec 3-2 in 10 innings.  Hiarlia Garcia took the loss for the Stars despite pitching an outstanding game.  Garcia gave up 4 hits, 2 walks & had 8 strikeouts.

In their second game of the day, the Stars defeated New Brunswick 4-0.  Steven Carter threw a one hitter, striking out 4 & giving up one walk.  The Stars have completed round robin play with a 3-1 record.

At the Pee Wee Championships in Vaughah, ON, the Stars extended their record to 4-0, handily beating Saskatchewan 19-4 & Nova Scotia 11-6.

Windsor Stars - Seniors Extend Record to 2-0

The Windsor Stars extended their record to 2-0 at the Canadian Senior Baseball Championships defeating the host team, Brandon, Manitoba 4-3.  Brad Boussey pitched 6 1/3 innings for the Stars.

Pee-Wee Stars 2-0 at Canadian Championship
The Windsor Stars Pee Wee team has extended their record to 2-0 at the Canadian Championships in Vaughan, Ontario, defeating Newfoundland & Labrador 14-0 yesterday.  The Stars faced Manitoba today and won by a score of 13-5.

Stars Win Opener at Canadians

The Windsor Stars won their opening game at the Canadian Senior Mens Baseball Championships in Brandon, Manitoba with a come from behind victory over Alberta by a score pf 2-1. 



Monday, August 18
Bronze Medal for Selects
The Windsor Junior Selects have captured the Bronze Medal at the Canadian Junior Championships in Charlottetown, PEI.  The Selects faced Quebec 2 in the Bronze Medal game, coming away with a 1-0 decision in extra innings.  Josh Federico would score in the top of the 9th to break a scoreless tie on an RBI single from Brian Simone.  Mike Delong was the winning pitcher for the Selects, giving up three hits, three walks & striking out eleven.  Quebec 1 defeated British Columbia for the Gold Medal by a score of 3-2.

Tecumseh Midgets to Represent SPBA at upcoming Midget Tournament
Following are the results of the double knockout tournament to determine which team would represent the Sun Parlour Baseball Association at the upcoming Ontario Baseball Association Midget Tournament to be held in Windsor August 22-24;

Sunday, August 17
Selects Playing for Bronze

The Windsor Junior Selects will not get the chance to repeat as Canadian Champions as they suffered their second loss of the tournament at the hands of British Columbia.  In a closely fought battle which saw the Selects score first, they lost 2-1 to British Columbia in the bottom of the 10th inning.  The Selects will now play for the Bronze Medal tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m.  against one of the two Quebec entries.

In earlier action they were defeated by Quebec 2 by a score of 4-3.  Each team scored one run in the 1st. & two runs in the 6th., but Quebec 2 scored one run in the bottom of the 7th. to clinch the win.

Rain Delays in PEI

At the Canadian Junior Baseball Championships, the game scheduled between the Windsor Juniors Selects  representing Ontario & Quebec has been postponed due to rain.  The game has been rescheduled for Sunday morning.

Selects Improve Record to 3-0
The Windsor Junior Selects improved their record to 3-0 at the Canadian Junior Championships with a 6-2 win over New Brunswick this morning, while defeating Saskatchewan 12-0 this evening.  These wins have insured the Selects a place in the medal round.

Thursday, August 14
Selects Come Out Strong at Canadians
The Windsor Selects got on the board quickly at the Canadian Junior Championships in Charlottetown, PEI, scoring three runs in the first inning  against Manitoba.  The Selects rallied for three more runs in the second inning, followed by two more in the fifth which proved to be enough for the win, eventually defeating Manitoba 8-5.  Dane Little got the win for the Selects.

Mic-Mac Captures League Title
The Mic-Mac's captured the 2008 Mic-Mac Junior League Championship, going 5-0 on the weekend in the double knockout style tournament playoffs.  The Mic-Mac team defeated Riverside Juniors by a score of 8-6 in the final game.  The Mic-Mac's had finished regular season play in 5th place.

Monday, August 4
Windsor Tournament Champions

Congratulations to:

The Windsor Stars for winning the Ontario Senior Elimination Tournament.  They will now advance to the Canadian Senior Elimination Tournament in Brandon, Manitoba, August 20-24.  The Stars went 6-1 on the weekend, with two straight victories over Oshawa to clinch the title. 

The Windsor Junior Selects for winning the Ontario Junior Elimination Tournament.  This is also their second straight title win.  The Selects also faced Oshawa in the final with a 3-2 win and will now advance to the Canadian Junior Championships in Charlottetown, P.E.I., August 14-18. 

The Windsor Stars Pee-Wee Major team for winning the Pee-Wee Major Elimination Tournament.  The Stars posted a 6-1 record on the weekend with a 3-1 victory over Richmond Hill in the final.  They will now advance to the Canadian PeeWee Championship in Vaughan, Ontario, August 20-24.
