Power Take Bethesda Thanksgiving Tournament Championship!!!!
Great performance by the Power at the nationally-recognized Bethesda Thanksgiving Day Tournament! The Power won the Championship in a fantastic finale against an incredibly strong and determined Pearls Prowlers team from Pennsylvania. The Power last met the Prowlers in the Jefferson Cup and squeaked by into the finals on penalty kicks. In the final at Bethesda, the two teams again played an even match, through two overtimes. In the end, Bethesda's unique rule of counting corner kicks put the championship in the Power's hands (the Power earned 9 corners to the Prowlers' 4 over the match). What a great match and what a great tournament!
En route to the championship, the Power had to get by some very strong teams -- Bethesda Storm and Spirit United Frenzy (Pennsylvania) in group play, and FC Delco Fusion (Pennsylvania) in the semi-finals. Many thanks to the Bethesda club for running such a fantastic tournament and to all the teams, every one of which is a great soccer side. Last but not least, the Power is tremendously thankful to its two guest players (Taylor and Darbie) from the Herndon Elite for helping out the Power.
