Welcome to the home of the Premier Youth Football League in Medina. MBYF is the Home of the Broncos, Stallions, Storm, Predators, Rampage, Grizzlies, Hawks, Crush, Cobras, Wildcats, Eagles, Sharks, Knights, Dawgz ,Panthers and Bisons. 2008 marks our seventh season. Since 2002, while other leagues have been shrinking in size, MBYF has quadrupled its enrollment. We now have over 900 hundred participants in our fall programs. This growth is clear proof that the Medina football community views MBYF as the best youth football league. Over 90% of our age eligible players and cheerleaders return for the following season. This is proof that MBYF provides the best football, NFL Flag Football and cheerleading programs in Medina.
With MBYF your family gets much more than with any other league: a greater degree of commitment to teaching skills; more games; more playing time; more free events (pool parties, Browns games, etc.), better equipment and uniforms-- and NO FUNDRAISING.
THE LEADER IN YOUTH FOOTBALL: MBYF is the leader in all areas of the game. We are the only league to offer NFL Flag Football (both Spring and Fall Seasons); the league which has the most teams. In 2008 we fielded 21 cheerleading squads, 21 tackle, 36 Spring NFL Flag Football and 30 Fall NFL Flag Football teams; MBYF is the only league to require both background checks and National Certification of all coaches, advisors and staff, for the safety of our participants; attendance of coaching clinics to so that our coaches remain the most knowledgable and skilled in youth football; the league with the most playing time; the league which has repeatedly demonstrated a commitment to the community by providing ( with its sponsors) renovations and maintenance of Bill Dunn Field; installation of scoreboard; Sponsor of Ken Dukes Stadium Renovation; donations to Medina High School Athletic Department; participation in Memorial Day, 4th of July and Candlelight Walk Parades; sponsor of the Arthritis Foundation Walk; participation in team dinners for Medina High School Football Team.
MBYF is the only league which competes against teams from Medina High School's Conference (The Northeast Ohio Conference). The Northeast Ohio Youth Football Conference is one of the largest in Northeast Ohio, consisting of 56 teams.
MBYF is the only league that offers its players the opportunity to play against national competition, by participating in the Midwest Youth Football National Championships. In 2007 we fielded 4 teams. Our Welterweight and 10 year old teams finished National Runners Up in 2007.
SUCCESS: MBYF is the only league in which teams from all age groups can qualify for the playoffs. Our teams have a proven track record of success-- 9 Division Champions, 9 Conference Champions, 9 League Champions and 5 Division runners up since 2002. In 2007, MBYF swept the NOC Championships. Eight MBYF teams qualified for the NOC playoffs in 2007. Four of our Bantam teams competed in the Bantam League playoffs.
Beyond success on the field, we judge success by how much our players and cheerleaders enjoyed the season. Over 90% of those age eligible to participate in MBYF return each season.
OPPORTUNITY TO EXCEL: Our Divisions for tackle football are divided according to age and weight (all ages determined as of 7/1/08 ): Varsity 11-12 year olds weight limit 150 pounds; Junior Varsity ages 8-10 weight limit 140 pounds; Bantam Division ages 7 and 8, weight under 100 pounds and 9 year olds under 65 pounds.
Our weight and age divisions offer the best mix of competiveness and safety of any league in Medina. Weight is only one safety factor to consider. Maturity has a much greater impact on safety. Our divisions address this issue betterthan any other league.
We limit all of our tackle squads to 19 players to maximize playing time and increase individualized teaching. We strictly enforce are rules in regard to playing time. All players must receive a minimum of 10 plays (not counting punts) per game. We offer cheerleading for all of our Varsity, Junior Varsity and Bantam level teams. The same age restrictions apply to the cheerleaders. There are no tryouts everyone plays.
We offer many opportunities for our players to improve their skills through our combines, speed & agility classes, instructional camps and pre-season conditioning.
MBYF is the only NFL Flag Football League in Medina County. We offer two flag football seasons: NFL Spring Flag Football (AGES 5-6 division; 7-8 division; 9-10 division; 11-13 division); NFL Fall Flag Football- 3 Divisions (Ages 5-6; Ages 7-8 and new for 2008 our ulitmate Flag Football Division for Ages 8-10).
VALUE: With MBYF you get much more. NO FUNDRAISING IN 2008. No family willl be asked to sell raffle tickets, etc. We also have instituted a registration fee credit system for families who wish to offset the registration fee. There are no hidden costs, as MBYF provides all equipment and uniforms necessary to participate (cheerleaders, football and NFL Flag Football Players).
