Congratulations to the Markham Lightning who capped off a very successful Outdoor Season by becoming the 2008 Champions of the CSL Cup.

The boys were victorious Sunday in a hard-fought battle for the title vs Richmond Hill. It was a highly competitive game played at the Ajax Sportsplex with the Markham side coming out on top 1-0.

On the road to the Championship, including the final, the boys played 5 games and shut-out their opponents in 4 of the 5 games. The squad showed great determination in the final game defeating their rivals from Richmond Hill.

This was the 4th title for the boys this summer, having previously been crowned tournament Champions of the West Niagara, the USA Cup, and the Kitchener International.

Well done boys.  

Congratulations to the Markham Lightning who captured the title of Kitchener International Tournament Champions for 2008.

The boys played some impressive soccer on their way to claiming the Cup this Simcoe Day Long weekend. They demonstrated good teamwork and defense in shutting down their opponents.

Well done boys, keep it going.

Don't Let up Lightning!

As a result of a "questionable tackle" from an Ajax player at the 30 second mark of last night's game, the Wee Man is likely done for the season. 

X-rays this morning revealed a small crack on the ankle and he is in a cast for minimum 1 week possibly 4 weeks. 

Scheduled appointment next week with Orthopedic specialist will determine how many weeks.

As the saying goes - "them's the breaks".

Congratulations to the boys as they are Champions of the 2008 Schwan's USA Cup in Blaine Minnesota.

The boys played some excellent soccer over the week defeating 2 teams from Mexico, a team from Wisconsin, and the Minnesota State Champions, on their way to capturing the title as Champions of the 2008 U-12 Division.

The Champion title was a historic first for the Markham Soccer Club.

After having sent many teams to the USA Cup over the years a Markham team finally prevailed as Champions.

Congratulations to the Markham Lightning (1996) boys for capturing the Championship in the 2008 West Niagara Tournament - North American Division.

The boys played hard as a team and persevered through the rain and cold conditions to capture the West Niagara Tournament Championship. This was the first 2008 Outdoor tournament for the boys in what will be a busy season.

The boys displayed excellent skills, team work, and determination on their way to the Championship.  It was a long, tiring 2 days of soccer, but the boys hard work, fitness training, and motivation to succeed, served them well. 

Way to go Lightning - Job well done!

The Markham Lightning (1996) boys completed their first Futsal season. They captured the championship going undefeated in Futsal League play.

Futsal is a fast paced indoor game that tests the players' quickness, passing, and positional play.

Congratulations go out to the Markham Lightning (1996) boys for capturing the Championship at the Hangar Christmas Classic Tournament.

An outstanding display of skills and teamwork served the boys well in both tournaments entered during this Holiday season, at BMO & The Hangar.
