Dear Parent:

Welcome to the 2008 Football season! Thank you for registering your child with the Lakewood Youth Football Athletic Association; we are very excited to be kicking off the ’08 season soon.The new board and coaches have agreed that we will not turn any child away from football. Currently we will be fielding one team at four levels. Unless we receive enough registered players in numbers sufficient to field multiple teams will we consider this an option. The board and coaches are committed to providing a quality football experience that instills sportsmanship, academics and the benefits of a team experience.

Important points:

· Please keep the experience positive at all times, our code of conduct is the foundation for this opportunity. This is youth football and only a game; however the fundamentals of sportsmanship are a life lesson.

· If there is something we can do better please let us know, we are all human and we will make mistakes. Let’s insure that we learn something positive from them.

· Communication, please note important dates listed and watch the web site at www.eteamz.com/lyfa2000 for updates. We will do our best to insure accurate and timely information.

With a new organization and partnership with the school district there is a lot to look forward to for this season. The new “LYFAA” board is constantly working to improve the football experience for our community, we only ask for your patience and cooperation.

To view an opponent score: At the NCYFL web site - Click on a given team in the the "Standings" section, that team will expand and show all games played up to that point, with the score, date and opponent. So anyone can see how a team is doing and track that teams weekly results during the season.

MISSION STATEMENT:
It is the mission of LAKEWOOD FOOTBALL to provide all of its athletes with a fun, positive, and learning experience playing football. We want to create a positive community atmosphere. We hope to develop young men of strong character who strive for excellence in the classroom and on the football field. It is our goal to build champions for life who possess the following life skills: commitment, responsibility, discipline, work ethic, positive attitude, and teamwork!

AGE LEVELS LEVELS & WEIGHT:
Peewees Ages 6-8 120 lbs max
Midgets Ages 9-10 140 lbs max
Juniors Ages 11-12 170 lbs max
Seniors Ages 13-14 215 lbs max
Sept 1st of every year shall be the participant’s league age except for the Senior Division: No Senior player shall be 15 prior to Nov 15th. No player as a freshman (9th grade) will be allowed to participate.

LYFAA VOLUNTEERS:
Lakewood Youth Football operates voluntarily, meaning there’s always a need for assistance with coach’s, concessions, field crews and donations, or simply patronize One of our superb sponsors!

HANDOUTS & FORMS:
This section has a wealth of good information about the league and offers you the ability to view and download many important league & organization documents.

SPORTSMANSHIP:
Expresses an aspiration or culture that the activity will be enjoyed for its own sake, with proper consideration for fairness, ethics, respect, and a sense of fellowship with one's competitors.

PARENTS:
Remember... Your child is guaranteed at least six (6) plays in every game! If your child is NOT getting at least six (6) plays a game... Please contact and advise the officer that represents your program. The most recent NCYFL Handbook has all the contact names and numbers. You may also contact any of our executive board members as well. We Love To Hear From Our Parents, and we will listen...not just hear you. We want you to feel free to tell us what you think, good or bad, we care. Your input is helping us to make this league the best it can be.

WHO ARE WE:                                        Lakewood Youth Football Athletic Association is a non-profit youth football organization; and a participating member of the North Cascade Youth Football League (NCYFL), which operates in Snohomish, Skagit, Island, San Juan and Whatcom Counties. The NCYFL covers the largest geographical area of any youth sports organization in Washington State, with 16 member communities belonging to the league, and we're still growing strong!
