Recent thumbs in the Hudson Litchfield News reminds me every year we have parents that ... Wednesday, June 25 Minor Division Championship
Prior to the game, players, parents, and coaches were "treated" to mother nature's version of fireworks. Once the skies cleared and after the coaches and parents worked to prepare the Minor Division field for the championship, the two teams were ready to play some baseball. Anyone who stuck around was treated to a very well played game between the (now) RED HOT Diamondbacks and the regular season best team Rockies. In the first inning, the snakes struck first getting 2 run. The 2-0 lead held for 2 innings, but in the 3rd the Rockies got their 2 runs back and were able to leave with a 3-2 lead. That lead held to the bottom of the 5th where the Rockies seemed to push across an "insurance" run for a 4-2 lead going to the top of the 6th... However, the Diamondbacks had other plans... The already tense game was getting even more tight as the Diamondbacks got runners on, plating 1 run to get within 1 at 4-3... With 2 outs in the inning, 2 runners on, and 1 strike on the batter - Harrison got hold of the next pitch and launched a shot towards the left field fence. The ball caromed off the top of the fence going straight up and hitting the tree overhanging left center field for a 3 run homerun. THere was bedlam on the Diamondbacks side line as they now held a 6-4 lead going to the bottom of the 6th. After a quick out, the not to be denied Rockies mounted their comeback... The top of their order mounted a few hits to tie the score. With runners on 1st and 2nd in a 6-6 game, Steven L drove a pitch to right center field scoring the runner from 2nd base for the Rockies win. A tremendous effort and game by both teams. The finish was just like the start - a lot of thunder and lightning except this time it was the players providing the show. Just as it should be. Thanks to all the players, coaches, and parents for a successful Minor Division season and championship game.
