Kickin’ Bass Anglers
KBA is located in southern Maryland and has been a Maryland BASS Federation affiliated club since 1992.
KBA fishes a 9 tournament season, starting in March and ending in November. Our home water is the Potomac River and we normally launch our tournaments at Marshall Hall. We fish 5 home tournaments and 4 away tournaments per year, starting with a home tournament in March and alternating throughout the remainder of the year. Away tournament locations are nominated and voted on by the membership in the January/February timeframe.
Tournament dates are voted on by the membership and we try to schedule around all the other major tournament weekends, if possible. In February, we schedule the first 3 tournament dates of the year. At each following meeting, we schedule the next available month. This way, we're always planning our tournaments 3 months out. This format was adopted to try and ensure maximum participation for the club.
If you are interested in joining Kickin' Bass Anglers, please contact us via email. Both boaters and non-boaters are welcome, though there may be a waiting list at this time.

June KBA Tournament Results
The fourth tournament of the year was held on the Rappahannock on June 3. It was a miserable day, with the rain starting just after launch and continuing all the way through the weigh in. The fish were biting though, as numerous limits were brought in, but most fish were small. Ray Stickel took first place honors with a total weight of 10.3. Ray also took big fish honors with a 3.47 lunker. Jeff Phipps came in second with a limit weighing 7.09. Brian Bielski took third with limit weighing 6.6.
So far its been a great start to the season and were not even half way through it. Jeff Phipps currently maintains a slight points lead on the year, but only 25 points separate first through sixth in the standings. Its going to be an exciting run for Mr BASS this year!

KBA Supporting Walter Reed Tournament
The Maryland BASS Federation Nation, in conjunction with the Paralyzed Veterans of America will host a bass tournament for 15 vets from Walter Reed Army Medical Center on the Potomac River. This event will be held on Sunday, July 8. Here are the details:
Sunday around 0400 all boaters will meet and drive to Walter Reed around 0500 and pick up our partners. We'll try to convoy down to Smallwood from there, arriving around 0630. There will be an honor guard detail there that will raise the colors and play the national anthem. We'll launch around 0800 and fish until around 1400 (2PM for you civilians...). This event is all about the wounded troops and making sure they have a good time and catch fish. This is a privilege for us all and we're happy to play a part in it.
Volunteers should be at Smallwood around 0630. They'll probably need help getting guys in boats, backing them in and parking trucks, delivering the ice, drinks and box lunches, etc. After the launch, you can hang around and fish or leave and come back around 1400 for the weigh in. We'll need help getting boats out and the guys out of the boats, etc.
After the weigh in, we'll be having a banquet and prizes will be given away. The MBFN has raised about $4000 so far to support this tourney and it will all be given
back, either in prizes or payouts.
Our local Fox News is covering the event. Chris--you're their camera boat. They're working on other news outlets, so there may be more. There will also be radio and newspaper coverage. All three guys that volunteered as boat captains are confirmed and will definitely be taking out vets.
Events like this are few and far between. Ensure you vet has a good day and catches fish. We need to do everything we can do to show these guys our appreciation for the sacrifices that they've endured. Have a great time guys!

May KBA Tournament Results
The third tournament of the season is in the books. It was a slightly tougher day on the Potomac for KBA anglers, but most everyone brought in at least one keeper. The spring feeding frenzy seemed to have slowed on tournament day, but Jeff Phipps was able to bring in a limit of 12.22 for first place. Tom James brought in four fish for 10.31 to take second. Chris "Good Luck Charm" Bolden took third with 6.23. Chris' streak of being in the boat that took both first and second place was finally broken, but watch out for him at the Rappahannock tournament in June! Wendell Thompson took big fish honors with a 3.42 Potomac football.
The June tournament will be held on the 3rd out of the Port Royal landing on the Rappahannock. Good luck guys!
