The game pitted the #1 seed Indy Stallions (17-3) vs the #2 seed Hurricanes (15-5). The two had met during the season with the Hurricanes winning the series 2 games to 1. Both teams arrived early for the 7:30 start for BP, but the pitching would be the story for this battle. The Stallions brought out Ace Bruce Stanley (5-0) while the Canes’ answered with “Big” John Hensley (8-2) and (2-0) against the Stallions. The game was moving fast and was scoreless through 2 innings. In the top of the 3rd, the Stallions would scratch the scoreboard as Rob Mckeeman would lead off with a double, and was later knocked in by Mike Risley. After the game, we were calling it “The Throw”. It stopped a rally and gave us the confidence we needed at the time and changed the momentum of the game.” CDavis cited. With the game (4–2) the battle started to heat up, with both teams chirping an and getting louder. Canes starter Hensley was dominate in the 8th and strikes out the side in the 9th , while letting the Stallions know about it and pumping up his teammates. Stallions SS Bryan Foster, “Hensley’s a handful, a top competitor and one of the top pitchers in the league. I knew we might have to make a pitching change, but they didn’t.” The Stallions would need relief and looked to Keith Hatfield (5-0) to close the door. He answered, allowing 0 runs on 2 hits. “I called on “Hatty”, I know he wanted some of this game and I know he is a “Big Game” guy. I had guys on the bench telling me, you have to bring in Hatty, he’s got that look, again.” When I flipped him the ball, he told me not to worry.” Davis said. Stallions prevail 4-2 and Bryan Apolskis is named the games MVP. The victory makes the Stallions the only IABL team in history to win 5th straight IABL titles, and the only team to repeat in both the MSBL and MABL Divisions. Monday, November 12 STALLIONS FINISH 3RD IN NATIONALS Stallion Ace # 8 Keith Hatfield dealing the 2008 World Series Semi-Finals against the So Cal Snappers, as #29 Jason Jaffe and his black and blue body , stands next to the Mexican Monster. Stallions lose 11-5. I think, it might have been 9-5. That sounds better. FYI. Hatfield was named Cy Young with Bryan Fosrter being named MVP. Not bad for a 39 year old.
