 4/23/08 Update:

Managers,  please remember that HOME team keeps the book this year.  You may use one of your own books or use the book from the shed.  SCOREKEEPER MUST be someone other than a player in the line-up.  Coach or spectator will work just fine.  VISITING teams, be sure to get your line-up to the home team at least TEN minutes prior to the start of the game!

Thanks.

MANAGERS MEETING SUMMARY from 4/9/08 (6:30 PM to 9 PM):

1. League Schedule- decision to play on MON, TUES, and WED nights. Teams agreed to play as many DH as possible but will play solo games to accomodate other team's needs. Schedule will be out next week.

2.Start date will be April 21.

3.Exhibition games will be played on 4/15 & 4/16; teams submitted available night and exhibition schedule will be posted later this week.

4. League championship games will be played at the end of the season and all teams make the playoffs.

5. League Registration Fee was discussed and brought to a vote. It was decided to drop the fee to $375 instead of the proposed $425. Teams decided to drop the scorekeeper a save the $50.  HOME team is responsible for keeping the book for BOTH teams during a contest.

6. Each team submitted a full team roster. There is a total of 9 teams for the upcoming session. 17 teams played last year at this time. Team managers feel that the 55% increase in league dues had an impact on the quantity of teams.  ## 4/16/08 update:  10 teams in league.

7. City Fee - teams discussed the $10 per person, per session fee the City of Huntsville has imposed on the league. After an hour long discussion, teams decided that the fee is fair should the City take care of the end of the bargain (as outlined in the AGREEMENT FOR USE OF CITY FACILITIES between the City of Huntsville and HASA).

League Rules:

1. ASA .44 core, 375 lb compression balls were brought up. Should the ASA stamp wear off, opposing teams may ask for an umpire decision. Teams agreed to not make a "BIG DEAL" about a team questioning the game ball. Yellow game balls are legal.

2. Hitters starting with a 1 and 1 count was brought up to help speed up play. It was turned down by the teams. Hitters will start off with a 0 and 0 count.

3. 3-home run max was brought up. It was decided to stay at 3. 4th HR is an out.

4. Rosters - Players may appear on only ONE team roster and only roster players are eligible for playoff games. All agreed. However, teams decided to drop the "2 player max pick-up" and the "must play in RF and/or C positions" and the "must hit 9th and/or 10th" rules. Teams can pick up any amount of players should they be short on players. Passed and agreed.

Other:

1. Teams agreed on game times.  When 3 games are played, game times will be 7:30, 8:30, and 9:30.  When 4 games are played, game times will be 7, 8, 9, and 10.

Open Grill Night

"Open Grill Night" was Monday, May 12 and was a great success. The league sponsored jumbo hotdogs @ no cost for teams and spectators.   A second "Open Grill Night" will be announced at a later date.  We're going to try and have at least one opportunity for each of the ten teams in the league.
