Titans Leave Ohio Disappointed

Mother nature ended any hopes of the Titans winning the Ohio Bash for the Cash.  By the luck of the "draw", the Titans faced the eventual winner of the tournament in their first pool game--giving the Cincinnati Flames a 7-5 win.  The second pool game would prove to be a bit easier with the Titans winning against the Midland Warriors 19-0.  And that's how it ended for the Titans.

Due to an excessive number of teams in the tourney with  many  having an easier road, the Titans were only seeded fifth after pool play with the tournament then cancelling due to weather.  But the Titans didn't leave completely empty handed.

The Titans again saw how they match up against the competition  in our neighboring states.  They will learn from  this experience and continue to work hard towards their ultimate goal of being competitive and successful in the post season tournaments.  Even though this tournament didn't end as expected, the  Titans were noticed by others as being one of the most solid and respected teams in the tourney.

They will now travel  back to Owensboro for the first time this season to compete in "The Memorial".  The parents will have to have to trade in the sombreros and burritos for steak and ribs from Texas Roadhouse--and possibly some Bear (depending on the luck of the "draw", of course).

Titans are NIT Champions
The Titans competed in their first USSSA NIT of the season at the Legends of Lincoln in Columbus, Indiana.  After going 1-1 in pool play, the Titans beat the Red Storm in the semi-finals to face the Columbus (Ohio) Big Katz who had just come off of a huge win over the Indiana Prospects.  Solid defense and pitching combined with the Titan's aggressive bats and baserunning led the Titans to  a 10-0 win over the Katz for the championship.

Titans Finish Third
The Titans traveled to Greenfield to participate in the Indy Bandits Blast.  They opened the tournament by winning their first 3 games with the defense only giving up 3 runs.  Their first loss of the season came in the semi-final game with the Bandits winning 10-7.  After the defense gave up an uncharacteristic 7 runs in the first inning, time ran out on the Titans who were fighting to put together a win.  Although they finished third overall, it was a great opportunity to play teams with a long tradition in Indiana.   The Titans earned the respect of many of the teams and represented Southern Indiana with class and discipline.

Titans Are State Champions

The Titans went to Owensboro to play in the 2007 Kentuckiana BPA State Championship where they again went undefeated.  The Titans played an oustanding game against the Mudcats which was enough to earn the title as Mother Nature made the final call for the tournament--a call that finally went the Titan's way.  The Titans thank all of their fans that made the trip to cheer them on.  We are especially proud of the boys this weekend as they showed us how mature and together they are as a team.  Whatever they are talking about in those private "team meetings" seems to be working.  The Titans will use the next week to prepare forthe  BPA Northern Zone World Series where they hope to reach their final goal of the 2007 season.

How Old Are These Boys?
The Titans left opposing coaches scratching their heads for answers as they swept thru the competition at the 2007 New Albany Invitational.  With wins over Jeff/GRC, Spencer County, the NA Thunderbats and South Oldham, the Titans met the New Albany All-Stars in the championship game.   After a five run start for New Albany in the top of the first, the Titan's bats went to work to put up the next 17 runs of the ballgame.  Impressive defense kept New Albany from scoring another run with the Titans winning the game 17-5.

Monday, July 2
Back to Back Titles
The Titans continued their winning streak over the past two weekends by going undefeated in both the SilverCreek Wildcat Invitational and the Middletown Recreation Association Invitational.  The Titans are looking forward to their final local tournament before heading back on the road to compete in the Kentucky BPA State Championship in Owensboro.  The Titans will square up against a tough Jeff/GRC team in their first pool play game in New Albany this week.  They hope to continue the fireworks after the Fourth of July holiday!!

Thursday, June 14
Memorial Weekend

Once again, the Titans came from the loser's bracket to face the Western Ky Outlaws in the championship game of The Memorial in Owensboro.  The Titans would have needed two wins against the undefeated Outlaws to be the champions.  The Titans fought hard in the first game to pull out a win, but ran out of steam during the final innings of the second game with a score of 4-2 in favor of the Outlaws.

Monday, April 23
Titans are the 2007 Total Fitness Spring Challenge Champions
The Titans improved their 2007 record to 10-2 by going undefeated in the 2007 Total Fitness Spring Challenge in Bowling Green.  The team recorded "0" (zero) strike outs for the tournament as they run ruled everyone until the final game against the Mudcats.  The Mudcats overcame a huge run deficit in the fourth and fifth innings, but the Titan's strong defense shut them down in the sixth with the Titans winning 18-16.  And who says the Titans rely only on their defense?  They scored a total of 62 runs for the tournament that kept the opposing outfielders on the warning track.  When Coach Cato was asked what he fed our boys--a steady diet of "bears" and a side of ribs from Texas Roadhouse of course.

Titans Finish Second in Season Opener
The Titans came out of the Losers' bracket to play for the championship of the 2007 Rustbuster Classic in Owensboro.  The Titans lost their opening game against the Hurricanes.  After winning their second game, the Titans headed to Texas Roadhouse to re-fuel.  They won their next four games that included match-ups against the Mudcats, the Bears, and the Canes.  The undefeated Young Guns would have to lose twice for the Titans to gain the title.  The Titans were strong in the first game, beating the Guns 11-1.  The Titans fell short in their fifth game of the day and lost to the Guns by one run.  The Titans finished the tournament with a 6-2 record and look forward to a second tournament later in April.

Sunday, October 22
Titans are 2006 Southern Indiana Bash Champions
The Titans concluded the Fall season in New Albany playing in the2006 Southern Indiana Bash.  In pool play, the Titans finished 1-1.  Struggling offensively, the Titans came alive to beat the Thunderbats 11-2. The Titans excelled in all facets of the game in a re-match against the Louisville Hurricanes.  The Titans won the championship 8-1--taking the wind out of the Canes.

Titans Win Championship and Earn a World Series Bid
The TITANS defense came thru to keep  them undefeated and in the winner's bracket as they made their way to becoming the 2006 BPA Halloween Havoc Champions.  Impressive defensive play drew spectators from other fields.  Our bats came thru when needed and the outfield kept some powerful offensive players in check.  The coaches are very proud of these young players abilities and efforts.  We look forward to continued success in the year ahead.

Tournament Re-Cap

The Thruston Bears beat the Lousiville Hurricanes to move to the winners bracket.
The Titans got a win over the Golfmoor Young Guns to also move forward.
The New Albany Thunderbats met the Bears and earned a chance to play the Titans.
Golfmoor moved to the Losers side and got a win over the
Canes.
The Bears won their game on Saturday to stay alive and sent the Canes back to the"Ville"
While the temperature was heating up mid-afternoon so was the rivalry as the Titans stripped the Bats of their wings in extra innings.
The Bats then became target practice as the Young Guns shot their way to a re-match with the Titans...........

And the Guns will never forget the "night they played the Titans"

Titans Getting Closer
The Titans have gained valuable experience during their first two tournaments.  They are currently 5-5 with two tournaments left in the Fall season.  The Titans have faced some very experienced teams and have shown that although they have not been together long, they are a very focused and hard-working team who have handled themselves well in very tough situations.

The Titans
were 3-1 to finish Runners-up in the Back to School Invitational  with wins over Hoptown and the Bears and held a very good Mt. Washington MudCat team to just 5 runs to finish second in the Hoosier Hill Titan Invitational--not to mention, beating the New Albany ThunderBats in pool play and the semi-finals.

The Titans look forward to traveling to Owensboro for the Halloween Havoc in October where they hope to meet up with the Thruston Bears once again.
