HUDDY'S MERCIES ROBERTS 20-3 IN FIVE

It is not fun to win this way but nobody got injured and we did not consciously run up the score.  One guy from Roberts had to sit and because we were already providing a catcher they had to play with just 3 outfielders - they should have done without a second baseman instead, but....   We would score 5 in the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th innings.  In the first it was all singles and a SAC that got the runs home.  In the 3rd, Phil banged a 2-run HR, John M a one rbi triple and Jim Fischetti drove a gapper up the middle and rounded the bases for a 2 run, inning ending inside the park HR.  In the 4th we did not make an out, scoring 5 on a walk, 4 singles and a 3-run inside the park HR by Billy B.  Billy is making a habit of these; he now has 5 IPHR on the season.  In the 5th, a walk, 3 singles and a bases clearing triple by Billy B plated 5 more runs.

EXTRA INNINGS:  Billy B drove home 6 runs and now has 33 RBI; good for a second-best on the team, tied with Jim Fischetti (Phil leads with 43).  Billy had a total of 9 RBI on 4-7 hitting in the doubleheader.  Vinny has noticeably tightened up play at SS; Frank did a great job there but when we have Vinny Frank is a superb outfielder.  Phil and John K both hit over-the-fence singles on the evening.  Oddly, the league rule is that the HR is a single but runners may not advance unless they must move up to accommodate the "single".  Steve (needs knee surgery), Frank, Larry, Paul and Russ (work), Bert (groin injury),

OCEAN SEASON TO BEGIN APRIL 28, 7 PM AT WINDING RIVER PARK IN TOM'S RIVER

Huddy's team will begin playing in Ocean with a doubleheader on Monday, April 28, at 7 pm.  When you enter the park make the first left and go all the way to the end of the parking lot.  The large field behind the trees to the right is field #2.  Fences are 305 down the lines, 320 to the power alleys.  I will be there NLT 6 pm to begin warmups and BP.  The schedule is on the website now.  Directions to the field (it is just 300 yds west of exit 83 on the GSP) may be found in the column to the left under "Locations".

HUDDY'S INN TO BECOME NEW SPONSOR

Donny Wisniewski chased down the owner of Huddy's and earned a commitment of $500 for our 2008 season.  Huddy's is located very close to the Buck's Mill Park and serves excellent food and beverages at reasonable rates.  Their menu, offering a wide selection of dinners and sandwiches, is interesting and affordable.  The $500 will pay for our fees in Ocean, leaving the cost for the shirts, hats and umps up to us for the balance.  Thanks Huddy's and thanks Donny!
