Executive Meeting Minutes - 2007/1/30

The GCMFL executive members met on January 30^th to discuss registration matters. The following is a summary of the items discussed and the decisions that were made.

1. Post-dated cheques will not be accepted. To ease the burden on the treasurer it is important that he be able to take the cheques received during a given registration session and deposit them in the bank as soon as possible. We also want to know for certain which players are or aren't paid in full by draft day.
   
   We can discuss this further that the captain's meeting on February 11th, but it was also suggested that returning players who are not paid in full by the draft would not be eligible to be protected by the current team. The treasurer should be responsible for paying the league's bills; he should not have to be the league's debt collector.
    
2. The "New Blood" recruiting incentive adopted at the 2006 AGM was discussed and the following decisions were made. Please refer to the 2006 AGM minutes, section 3.5 and 3.6 for details on the framework agreed to at the AGM.
    
   1. To be eligible for consideration as a "new blood" player, the candidate must register by the end of the last formal registration date (March 4^th @ 6PM).
       
   2. Candidates must indicate which team they intend to play for on their registration form, and it is their responsibility to remember to do so. This is to ensure that there is no poaching of candidates or attempts to convert uncommitted new sign-ups to "new blood" players.
       
3. The following dates were selected, pending confirmation of availability with the Kanata Sports Club (KSC):
    
   • Sunday Feb 11 @ 7PM: Captains meeting at KSC to discuss recruitment and any other registration-related issues, plus go over ideas for a possible fundraising event in April.
      
   • Sunday Feb 25 @ 7-9PM: Registration for new and returning players at KSC.
      
   • Thursday Mar 1 @ 7-9PM: Registration for new and returning players at KSC.
      
   • Sunday Mar 4 @ 3-6PM: Registration for new and returning players at KSC. The Senators play the Blackhawks in Chicago at 3PM, so come to KSC and watch the game once you've filled out your registration form.
      
   • Sunday Mar 18 @ TBD: Captains meeting and pitcher draft at KSC. Start time to be decided at Feb 11 meeting. The Senators play the Penguins at 7:30PM in Pittsburgh.
      
   • Sunday Mar 25 @ 2PM: Player draft at KSC.
      

   Players who wish to register in advance can fill out the registration form available in the Handouts section, and then either print it out or send the data electronically. Cheques and printed forms can be mailed to:
