Welcome to the Website of the Green Brook Hockey Club!!
Welcome to the website of the Green Brook Hockey Club, one of New Jersey's finest youth inline roller hockey leagues. We are an outdoor inline hockey league open to kids from all towns and municipalities. ALL SKILL LEVELS ARE ACCEPTED. Our divisions are 17 and under, 13 and under, 10 and under, 8 and under, and Learn to Play. Our games are played primarily and Saturdays and Sundays. We have a 10 game schedule plus playoffs, which include all teams. The success of our league has been based on our volunteers and the great kids we've had in the league. We ask anyone interested in serving on the board, working the concession stand, helping with rink maintenance, or anything else to help the league, to please contact us by e-mail at gbhc@comcast.net. To check out all of the things going on around our league, just click on the "GBHC News" tab. For Registration and other forms and handouts just click on the "Registration and Handouts" tab. For our "Feature Game of the Week, click on the "Pictures" tab; for scheduling info click on the "Schedules" tab; for all other info, simply click on the appropriate tab at the top!
Fall 2008 Registration Ends, Board Approval Now Required For Any Further Ones Received!!
Registration for our Fall 2008 season ended August 11th. Any registrations received after August 11th may still be accepted, but require board approval. If anyone would like to still try and register at this point, please e-mail us at gbhc@comcast.net and we will see if we have room in the age group your child would play in. The cost of registration is the same as last season, which is $80 ($75 for families with multiple registrants), plus a $50 Work Bond fee, which will be refunded at the end of the season upon completion of 2 hours of volunteer work for the league. One Work Bond check only per family is required, even for families that have multiple registrants in the league.
George Aller Wins Matt Paltjon Scholarship Award For 2008!!
The Green Brook Hockey Club was proud to announce that long time player and now also a coach in the league, George Aller was the 2008 recipient of the Matt Paltjon Scholarship Award. Dave Paltjon was on hand to make the presentation to George, and while making the presentation, Dave mentioned all the numerous things George has done to help the league. For example, George is the only player to have played in every single season that has taken place at the Green Brook Hockey Club, since the beginning of the league in the Fall of 1999. He has also helped us out in so many ways on our rink maintenance days and has pitched in wherever possible in helping get the rink ready for upcoming seasons. He has also helped the kids in the Learn to Play group, acting as an assistant to the Learn to Play director for a number of seasons. He also has been an assistant coach in our U8 and U10 divisions now for a good number of seasons as well. Besides the Green Brook Hockey Club, George also played ice hockey for Watchung Hills High School for 3 years. Outside the world of hockey, George attended the Police Academy's Youth Week for a number of summers and in 2007 was appointed a squad leader for his group. This has inspired George to obtain a degree in Criminal Justice, after which he will potentially pursue a career in Forensics. George also plans to help out the Green Brook Fire Department as well in the near future. George also has helped the community with projects such as cat rescue and snow shoveling for the elderly. But it's George's love of hockey and his willingness to help the younger kids in the league where he has really made in impact, and continues to do so. Again, we were very proud to make George the 2008 recipient of the Scholarship award and wish him all the best in the future!

Got Coke Bottle Caps Anyone? Donate Them to us!!
Hey, don't throw out that Coke bottle cap!! League parent Barbara Todtenkopf is once again helping pitch in for the league by collecting Coke bottle Caps. If enough caps are collected, she will be able to get some very nice things for the league to either keep or raffle off for fundraising. Simply bring your caps to the rink or use the ones from the drinks sold at our concession stand and drop them off in the Coke Cap receptacles on the fans side of the rink. So, right after that last sip, remember to take that cap and donate it to the GBHC!!
Spring 08 Opening Day Excitement!!
What a great day of fun and excitement the Green Brook Hockey Club had on Saturday, April 5th when we celebrated the beginning of our 20th season of hockey!! The day got started with our players receiving their season jerseys and gathering with their new teammates and friends for the season. Then after honoring America with our National Anthem league President Tom Sammon addressed the crowd and thanked all of the volunteers the league has for their great support, saying "Without you, this league would never have reached its 20th season of hockey". Then, Green Brook Mayor Ken Herrmann took to the microphone, as he and town Committee member Frank Mercuri stopped by to wish us well on another season. Ken talked about how much the Club has meant to so many families in the community and then he decided to do a "first" for the league and start what may become a nice tradition. Mayor Herrmann took the first shot on goal of the season against our U10 goalie Xavier Deida. But Xavier made a nice save and the Mayor had to take a few more shots before getting the first goal of the season. Then we had a very special presentation that we made to long time league player George Aller. George is the only player to play in all 20 of our seasons since the beginning of the league, and so it was very appropriate that he be presented with the first ever certificate of induction into the new 20 Season Club. After that, we unfurled the latest banner at the rink which simply reads "Celebrating 20 Seasons - Congratulations Green Brook Hockey Club". After that, Learn to Play coach Dennis Costello introduced all of our Learn to Play players for the season. We then heard some final words from Tom that the league is going to start doing some fundraising over the next few seasons to set aside funds for eventually having a new rink in place. Of course - as usual, ASI photo was on hand for some great pictures that were taken throughout the day from our exhibition games. We also had some great contests as well, along with some teriffic raffle prizes as well. We also held our swap sale and had the newly opened Just Hockey store on hand for some great hockey bargains. You can catch all the pictures we got from this special day by clicking on the Pictures section of the website. In all, it was another great Opening Day to start our 20th season and we thank everyone that helped out to make for a fabulous start to our Spring 2008 season!!

A Great Time At Our Carrabba's Party!!
Our party at Carrabba's on February 9th was a blast for everyone as the day featured alot of food, fun, and prizes!! Things got started around 11 AM and for the next 3 hours friends and family from the Green Brook Hockey Club gathered for a great time. We gave out a tremendous number of raffle prizes, had some cool video games going, and of course, had that great Carrabba's food. We would like to thank Kevin Scott, Kim Hill, and the staff at Carrabba's for all their efforts and their support of our league. Carrabba's Italian Grill is located on Route 22 West in Green Brook. Stop by some time with the family and enjoy a great meal at this long time sponsor of the Green Brook Hockey Club!! We also want to extend our sincere thanks to league parent Suzanne Kovacs for making a terrific (and very delicious) cake for the occasion! Suzanne, who is an award winning baking expert, baked a cake for the occasion, a picture of which can be found in our Pictures section of the website, along with all the other pictures we got that day. By the way, Suzanne's web address for her cake design business is at www.elegantcakesbysuzanne.com , for that special occasion you may want to have a cake made for. Again, thanks to her and Carrabba's and everyone that showed up for a great and fun time at our party!!
Hey, How Can I fulfill My Work Bond Obligation?
During any season, those that have signed up for the Work Bond program, volunteer for 2 hours of work to be done at our rink in a number of ways. The most common way is to work at our concession stand. To sign up for the stand, simply ask the stand supervisor for the volunteer sign up sheet and assign yourself to a date that fits your schedule. Other ways of fulfilling the Work Bond obligation involve participating in specified maintenance cleanup days at the rink. Coaching and serving on the Board of Directors are yet other ways as well to fulfill the Work Bond. There can be other volunteer works to fulfill the Work Bond obligation as well, at the discretion of league officials. Those that do not complete the necessary 2 hours of volunteer work will have their work bond checks cashed after the season concludes. Again, thanks to all our volunteers, who really help make the Green Brook Hockey Club rink a fun place to be!!

Hey, How Do You Get A High Resolution Picture Copy?
Every once in a while people ask about the pictures we take for the website and whether or not they might be available at a higher resolution. The answer is - yes! In fact, all our pictures are taken at a resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels. The reason why the pictures on the website are not kept at the 1600 x 1200 resolution is because that size resolution would overfill computer screens too much and you'd have to scroll down and across just to see 1 picture. Secondly, if we kept that resolution there's no way we'd be able to put that many pictures on the web - our webspace would be completely depleted after just a few pictures at that resolution. If there is anyone that wishes to have a high resolution copy of a particular picture printed for them or even e-mailed we can do so by request. Simply send us an e-mail at gbhc@comcast.net and we'll arrange with you to have the picture sent or given to you at the higher resolution.
Not getting Our Weekly Updates? We Need Your E-mail Address!
Each week throughout the season we provide all our Green Brook Hockey Club members with updates about league info and important news items concerning the league. Quite often we'll have important announcements concerning various things such as re-scheduling of games, special events, and so on. The e-mails we use are the ones that people have provided either on their registration form or by e-mails sent to our e-mail address. ALL E-MAIL ADDRESSES ARE KEPT PRIVATE AND ARE NEVER SHARED WITH THIRD PARTIES. If have you have not received any updates from us recently, it means we do not have your e-mail address. Either you may not have provided us with one on your registration form or the one you provided no longer works. In some cases, the address given was not legible enough for us to use properly. Also, some e-mail programs may be diverting our e-mails into a Bulk or Spam folder. You can resolve this by adjusting the settings for your e-mail program so that it allows e-mail from our address. To be on our e-mail update list, simply send us an e-mail at gbhc@comcast.net. For AOL e-mails, we ask that you use our alternate e-mail address, which is greenbrookhockeyclub@comcast.net. Thanks and again, please send us your e-mail address right away to get our updates!!

Ken Daneyko Visits The Green Brook Hockey Club!!
The Green Brook Hockey Club extends its deepest appreciation to the New Jersey Devils and to Ken Daneyko, who made our Fall 2005 Opening Day one of the most special ones ever! Shortly after Ken arrived and said hi to everyone, he went right to work signing plenty of autographs and taking pictures with many of our players. After a while, Ken took a moment to do a couple of puck drops for one of our U8 games, which thrilled those guys to no end. Ken then conitinued to autograph sticks, pucks, pictures, and even some of our players' jersey's (looks like those won't get washed for a while!). Finally, Ken posed for some pictures with Dave Paltjon and family with the new Matt Paltjon scholarship plaque, which of course, honors the yearly recipients of our scholarship award. Again, we thank Ken and the Devils for all they did to help open our Fall 2005 season in a very special way. To see pictures of Ken Daneyko from our Fall 2005 Opening Day, just click on our "Pictures" section of the website and click on the "Ken Daneyko visits" option. What a fantastic day it was!
Bruce Driver Visits The Green Brook Hockey Club
What a great day Saturday, September 23rd, 2005 was when former Devils and Rangers player Bruce Driver joined the Green Brook Hockey Club for a great time at our rink. Bruce stayed and signed autographs during the first couple of our U8 division games that day and chatted with alot of our players and parents about hockey life. Bruce also did a puck drop during one of the U8 games and stayed and talked a while longer with some of our players, parents, and coaches. All in all we had a terrific time with Bruce and we thank the New Jersey Devils for arranging for Bruce to be on hand at our rink! Thanks Bruce!!
