Inferno Loose a Heartbreaker

Round two of the State Cup was heartbreaker for the Inferno. Knowing that they were going against a formidable adversary, the Inferno came into the game with hopes of winning against the Laurel Premier. It was not meant to be though as the Premier came out with a quick offense and controlled the first half of the game and had several scoring opportunities. With a little luck and some solid goaltending, the Premier only scored once, leaving the door open. In the second half, the Inferno settled down and was able to take control of the game and create their own opportunities. Around the mid was mark of the second, the Inferno tied the game 1-1 and it looked as though they may be able to pull out a victory as they continued to keep the pressure on. Unfortunately, with about 5 minutes left in the game, the Premier had a long shot that went off the crossbar and just crossed the line before the keeper could get a hand on it.Final score, Premier 2 Inferno 1

State Cup Victory

Inferno Win

The Freestate Inferno have been training hard over the winter preparing for the State Cup and the regular season.

The girls have worked hard on ball control and it has shown in their previous tournaments as they prepared for the State Cup. The first game against the SAC United Classic was one in which the Inferno maintained control of the ball allowing no shots on goal. The Inferno scored early taking a quick 1-0 lead and mid way through the second half scored their second goal to seal their victory with a 2-0 win.

They look forward to their next challenge against the Laurel Premier on April 12.

Inferno win OBGC Labor Day Tournament
Inferno Goal

The Inferno went into the tournament planning on playing some sound soccer and getting ready for the upcoming season. With the addition of some new players the Inferno are stronger than ever and taking control of the game.

In game 1, the Inferno clearly outplayed their opponent, however sent more balls over the net than in. The final score was 1-0 Inferno. In game 2 and 3, the Inferno still controlled the ball and out hustled their opponents and won both game 3-0. The championship game was against the Crofton Wolves. Games against the Wolves have always been close and well fought games by both teams. This game was no different than others played in the past. By scoring a couple of goals off of corner kicks, the Inferno took a 2-0 lead and with only a couple of minutes left in the game, the Wolves were able to put one in for a final score of 2-1.

Congratulations Girls
