Dear Parents of Forestville Little Leaguers, Our biggest change was the loss of our girls softball program. The Forestville, Edgewood, and McCabe Waters little leagues have decided to merge all girls softball players within the city to form the new Bristol Girls Softball Little League. Any Girls (ages 5-18) that wish to register for this new league can contact Bob Kloss at klossrobert@sbcglobal.net or Mike Owsianko at mcaa03@comcast.net. Also due to lack of participation there will no longer be a senior league for boys baseball. Anyone with questions regarding this matter can contact Mike Rothkugel at fllscores@yahoo.com or Jerry Wojsnarowicz at gwojo1@hotmail.com. Every year we have our annual fundraiser. This year will be no different. But this year we ABSOLUTELY NEED 100% PARTICIPATION FROM ALL PARENTS/GUARDIANS INVOLVED. Losing the 3 softball teams and 2 senior teams greatly reduces our expected registration income Last year only 70% of the families took part in the sale of raffle tickets. What the other 30% don't realize is without that income, prices next year will go up $50 per child for every league and we won't bother to have a fundraiser. Our board of directors was one vote away from making that extra $50 fee a reality for the 08 season. Lets not make it a reality for the 09 season. Any one that may have any new ideas that might help our league to generate more income please contact our new fundraising director Rory Belanger at gojets999@comcast.net. All of us at Forestville Little League (board members, managers, coaches, and staff) are all parents of league children just like you. Please become an active member of our league because without your help there is no league. FLL President Brian Lockhart lockhartelectric@sbcglobal.net
LETTER FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS, FLL FLL is a great atmosphere for young people to "Play Ball", but it is also a $60,000 + per year to expense. That volunteers must produce to keep us on the map! Another year of exciting Ballgames brings another year of changes! Some questions we are anticipating: 1.WHY THE FEE INCREASE? This will be the most popular question. Majors had the largest increase due to certified umpires we will need to pay for each game. Managers and coaches will no longer be umpiring major games. We arrived at the increase by estimating umpire fees divided by number of games and then number of players on each team. If your child tries out for the majors but does not make the cut, then the $50 difference (from $110 to $60) will be refunded so that he/she can play at the minor league level. Any other increases are due to the increase in supplies needed to run the league such as equipment, lime, utility fees...ect. 2. HOW CAN I VOLUNTEER TO MANAGE OR COACH? We need knowledgeable managers and coaches for all divisions. Consider being an active part of your child's baseball experience. If you are interested, please send a letter of intent which entails, Name, Address, Phone, Division of interest and any information regarding previous coaching experiance to: lockhartelectric@sbcglobal.net. Also you need to fill out a volunteer app form.
