Check In/Tee Off

Check In begins at 7:30 am; you must be checked in by 8:15 am when players leave for their teeing ground or your place may be taken by someone on the waitlist.   You must leave for your first hole immediately after the announcement from the starter. No practice on the course prior to the round.

FORMAT

Scramble Format:  Each team has a player from each of  5 handicap levels "A", "B", “C”, “D”, and “E” as selected by GHIN Tournament Pairing Program (TPP).  Teams were selected to make the total team handicaps as close as possible. There will be no handicap strokes applied.    Low TEAM scores will be the winners.

Procedure:  Each player starts the hole from his designated tee (Blue, White) .  From the tee balls the TEAM selects a “best” shot to be used for the next set of strokes by the team.  Mark that spot.  Each player’s drive must be used 2 times and no single player’s drives will be used more than 5 times. Place & Play each of the other balls within the length of your scorecard from that spot, NO CLOSER TO THE HOLE.  Use this same procedure until the ball is holed out.  PLACEMENT:  Your scorecard measurement MAY take you out of the rough and into the fairway, or out from behind a small tree, etc., but it MAY NOT take you out of a hazard or onto a green.  If you play a shot from a bunker, you may rake the sand in between shots before placing the ball.  You may not ground your club in any hazard.  Once you are on the green, select the best ball to putt.   Mark the ball and putt from a spot within a scorecard length,  no closer to the hole.  You may elect to  "tap in" any short putts to give your partners the freedom “to go for the putt”, but if you miss the short putt,  the extra stroke will count.  Team members may help each other with alignment, but they may not stand behind the player while putting.

Teeing Ground: See Scorecard for each players' teeing ground.

Canyon #5: The Drop area on the greenside of the hole will not be utilized for a ball in gulch fronting the green in any FHMGC Tournament.  You may use the options of Rule 26 that do not require that you play from an ESA.

Captain: The "A" player shall make the decision for the order of play and for which ball is to be selected for play.  The "A" player is responsible for pace of play.  The "A" player will record whose tee ball was used on each hole on the score card.

METHOD TO BE USED IF A TEAM PLAYER IS MISSING

If the team is missing a player(s), the remaining players will alternate playing the extra shot(s) on a hole as follows:  Use the same rotation for the entire round.  You may choose any initial rotation. Eg Rotation is A-B-D-E (C is missing), and “B” took the last two shots on last hole, then “D” would have two shots on next teeing ground.

Pace of Play: See the membership book for the policy; your group should finish the round in 4 hours and 40 minutes!  You must record your starting and finishing time on the score card.

RECORDING SCORES:  The team will record only one GROSS score per hole by the "A" Player's  Name

CLOSEST-TO-THE-HOLE CONTEST: This is an idividual competition paying $25.00 in ProShop credit.

SKINS GAME: A voluntary $25.00 Skins / Team ($5.00/Player)  Game is available.  Skins will be based on the low team scores for each hole.  Teams may enter with cash only at the check-in table.  If one team member elects not to enter, the other team members, at their  option, “pick up all the action" by paying his entry..

TIES for team scores: will be settled by a scorecard play-off as specified in the current USGA Rules of golf, Rule 33-6, Appendix I, 2 (c ).  Stroke Play and Club policy
