All Star News Now Online
Who are the ECYB all-stars? When do they play? Who do they play? Can my child participate? For the answers to these and other questions, check out the new ECYB All-Star FAQ section posted on this site here:
All-Star FAQs There you'll find the answers to many of the questions surrounding ECYB all-stars. Please note that the FAQ has not been fully updated to address the latest (May 2007) rule changes, so in the event of any inconsistency between the FAQ and the current rules, the current rule governs. The Rules are set out here.

News on All-Star selection

To be considered for a post-season All-Star team an application form must be completed and returned to the Division President by May 18, 2008. (We are asking for a parent or guardian's signature on the form -- a typed or electronic signature is acceptable. We just want to ensure that a parent or guardian has read the info on what it means to play on an all star team and filled out the vacation survey.) Applications are available here:

The Post-Season All-Star teams will be announced in June. Qualified players are eligible to play on any of the teams – please see the ECYB website for more detail. Each team will consist of 12 players and will be selected by the team managers and division president in accordance with ECYB rules. Please be mindful that your submission of this application does not mean that your child will be selected to one of the All-Star teams. Players will be selected based on baseball talent, attitude and ability to contribute to a successful team. Parents should not, therefore, advise their children that they will be selected to one of the teams simply because this application is submitted.

Practices and Time Commitments

All Star team practices begin immediately following the Pinto playoffs in mid-June and could continue through mid-August, depending on the tournament schedule. All-Star play requires a significant time commitment during the summer months. Practices are held 2-3 times a week and tournament play involves traveling on the weekends and on weeknights. For this reason, it is important that players and parents understand that this is a serious commitment of time and energy. Being unavailable for some portion of the summer (because of vacation, summer camp, etc.) does not disqualify a player from All Star play. However, in order to plan for absences, it is necessary that you tell us on the application any dates your child will be unavailable.

If selected, the player/family agrees to invest the required time, energy and expense to be a full time team member. This commitment should not be taken lightly.

All-Star Play

ECYB generally fields two Post-Season All-Star teams (blue and red) to compete in tournaments throughout the Bay Area during the summer months. Depending on the manager’s interest, there is also the option for the All-Star teams in the Mustang, Bronco and Pony Divisions to compete in the sanctioned PONY Tournament.

The number of All-Star teams fielded in each league is as follows:

The Pinto Division generally fields two Post-Season All-Star teams (blue and red).

The Mustang and Bronco Divisions generally field two Post-Season All-Star teams (blue and red) to compete in tournaments throughout the Bay Area during the summer months. Depending on interest and commitment there is also the option to field a third “rookie” post-season tournament team.

The Pony Division generally fields one Post-Season All-Star team.
