Home Budget Clinches 1st in Hickman Division
Home Budget squeaked a win out past Cecil County with a 2-0 win last night. Canada Dry Clincehd a few weeks ago in the Donofrio Division. Second and third place are still up for grabs for both divisions with less than a week to go. The only team Mathematically out of it is Damiani Tile. Damiani Tile would only be agame out of the Donofrio divison. Just a weird year with the schedules being set up the way they were. But every year the league will swap teams depending on what place they finish in the regular season. The only two teams that are set for next year is Canda Dry will be in one division and Home Budget will be in the other.
Our Thoughts and Prayers go out to Mitch Troy who took a line drive of the right forearm from the bat of Mike Walls in the first inning of last nights game.

Last Friday a Record was Set For Most Hits In A Game Between Two Teams
Bucco's and Hy-Point met last week at Rockford Park and had a marathon of hits. So many hits, that it is a new record for "Most Hits in A Game Between Two Teams". 34 hits were compiled between the two teams last Friday. Bucco's had 12 hits and Hy-Point had 22. The previous record was held by two teams. In 1966, Parkway beat Canada Dry 26-6 and 32 hits were banged out in this game. C. Wallace Insurance and Canada Dry also had 32 hits in 1993 in a single game.
Most Hits by a Team in a single game is 26 by Parkway in 1966.
Andre Duffie needs two more Triples to set the record for most Triples in a season. He set the Freshman Record at Delaware with 9 and had 3 in one game vs. Hofstra May 1, 1995.

Hy-Point Dragon's Pitcher Buckland Signs Pro - Contract
Baseball's Buckland to Sign Pro Contract - Jul 18, 2008
DOVER, Del. - Former Wesley College standout and 2008 graduate Ryan Buckland (Middletown, Del./Caravel Academy) has agreed to terms with the Nashua (N.H.) Pride of the independent Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball (CanAm League).
Buckland will sign with the Pride on July 19 and could start on the mound as soon as that evening in New Hampshire against Ottawa, depending upon travel considerations.
A 6-4 righty, Buckland completed his career with a stellar senior season in 2008. He finished the year with an 8-2 record and a 2.88 ERA, while striking out 71 batters in 75 innings. He led the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) in opposing batting average (.195) and hits allowed/game (6.24). He also finished tied for second in the conference in strikeouts to earn All-CAC Second Team honors.
The senior became Wesley's career wins leader in 2008 and finished his career with 26 career victories. His 228 career strikeouts are also the most in school history. Buckland was named all-conference in each of his final three seasons.
Buckland is the first Wesley baseball player to sign a professional contract since the program joined NCAA Division III.
He helped lead the Wolverines to a 27-15 record in 2008 and third place finish in the CAC. Over the past three years, the Wolverines have won 80 games, the most in school history over a three-year period.
Buckland will look to bolster a Nashua roster that enters the weekend with a 23-28 record.

BOXSCORE Spreadsheet Available For Teams To Use
Please look at the spreadsheet that I have created for the league to use. Save the spreadsheet to your harddrive and then input your game data. Save the document (Click on the Handout "BOXSCORE" and then click on the file "BOXSCORE" and it will ask you to donload it to your harddrive). I would suggest having the date in the name when you save the games. Always name the file different after each time so you don't lose your data.
Please send the document electronically (Fax or e-mail) to the News Journal, Max Beheler and myself. I can keep the stats current if everyone sends them to me. People complain because we do not have stats completed, but you have to remember that we have to get them to compile them. Send them daily so I can keep up on them.

Troy O'neal is Hoping to Bring the Bully Out!
Delaware Semi Pro player, Troy O'Neal, has created a new Bat company located right in our own backyard. Troy did the leg work to find the best wood availble for turning bats. He found a company in Pennsylvania that provides American White Ash to the other big companies and he went to Canada to acquire Candian Rock Maple (Sugar Maple). The latest wood of players choice, Canadian Birch, has also been brought Hockessin for spinning bats. Troy hopes to compete, with and surpass the big companies by providing the best quality bat for a great price.

WHAT'S GOOD FOR THE GOOSE IS GOOD FOR THE GANDER
WILMINGTON - After many years of changing the face of baseball in upstate Delaware, Bob "Goose" Gildea has been inducted into the Delaware Baseball Hall of Fame.
"It's about time brutha haa, know what I'm sayin' ha . . . . . . this ain't my first rodeo haa, haa!" said Gildea, who has coached the Gildea's Raiders for over a century. "Every year we play an integral part in the preparation of World Championship Major League Baseball teams and they're run for a world title. I mean, if we didn't schedule these teams, know what I'm sayin', I mean they would be in no way be able to adjust for the season, know what I'm sayin' brutha, haa!"
Each season, the Gildea's Raiders make their annual Florida spring training trip and play professional teams to prepare for the season. Several Gildea's players have signed professional contracts during the trip.
"It's all about a good time brutha, haa. It's all about the pride of wearin' that orange shirt daddy," added Gildea. "The orange is legendary with hard nosed ballplayin' and killer times in the Florida sun brutha! The trip is about winning and having a good time daddy, meetin' on the tarmac and rollin' out to play some ball. We don't even worry about practice, we just rip brutha - lock and load, know what I'm sayin' huuuh huuuh!"
"I'm proud to be a part of the hall - truly daddy, I mean I've been to the mall, now I been to the hall, haa! said Goose, who is now enshrined in the hallowed halls of baseball forever.
THIS ARTICLE IS FICTITIOUS IN NATURE (BUT GOOSE WOULD'VE SAID THIS STUFF ANYWAYS) CONGRATULATIONS GOOSE (WE ARE PROUD TO HAVE BEEN A PART OF YOUR LEGEND).
